Does *anyone* like the new look/way? Sorting through to choose *other* than the initially suggested doff is a *pain*. Where is the separation of departments at least? Good grief. PLEASE put it back the way it was. PLEASE.
Update: The roster is still, thank God, the way it was. However, when trying to choose doffs for missions, you try to click on *one* doff, and immediately all the doff slots for that mission are filled. A mission can be cancelled, but when you click to try to restart it, the doff slots are filled just like before, not empty.
I'm off of STO for awhile. I don't need this TRIBBLE. No, I am *not* giving away anything. I just need some sanity ... offline.
There's no way to properly filter your DOFFs during mission planning.
There were officer recommendations before, but you had the choice to ignore them and choose your own crew assignments. It made me feel more like a CAPTAIN managing my crew!
You took control AWAY from the player and dumbed down the system, Cryptic. I feel condescended to. As if you're telling me - "Moron, THIS is how you assign officers! Give me the controls!"
You've locked down the options and made it into a cookie cutter that takes ZERO thought. Now it's just "TRIBBLE it, I don't have control anyway. Click click click click DONE. Bye." There's NO immersion. There's NO feel as if I'm managing my OWN crew. Now YOU are managing MY CREW FOR ME.
Bad form. Extraordinarily bad form, Cryptic. NEVER take control away from the player!
I'm not even going to get into the R&D aspect. I'm pissed off enough as it is. I think I'll be taking a break from the game for awhile.

completely agreee it's awfull, horrible, what the hell devs are you thinking !!!
seriously stop destroying what was good in game
Research and Development:
Dynamic consoles are not seen in fast equip window.
"Overload" Beam Array affix proc drains weapon power.
All Research Projects state player gains 0 XP on the main page for each school.
The correct XP amount will be shown next to the "Start Task" button when choosing to begin this project. There is no Sort or Filter options for Duty Officers.
Occasionally, players will not be able to start eligible Duty Officer Assignments.
KDF Bortasqu Belt vanishes below the upper when Stomach slider is at minimum.
Bortasqu and Bortasqu Long Uppers lack Emblem and Badge drop-downs.
Hopefully it will be fixed..

I use the overload beam console, even if it drains the weapons energy am still using it! (They need to fix the issue though.) Or use Emergency power to Weapons or that weapons battery!
The look is where the developers are going with the game. DOF are now stationed for what they are set for the task on hand. To me it's easier this way. I was doing the research myself to figure out which DOF would be better assigned for the task given.
Example Doctor needs to be able to treat the crew for illness on the ship but the Nurse I have is stubborn and I can't use her because failure is stubborn in red. I have replacement for her another nurse now prior I was using Bio-TRIBBLE instead. Stuff like this. In trade deals you don't want to use stubborn Nurse. You could use the Doctor if you don't have Traders.
I am sure what we have so far is a work in progress and same images are not showing correctly. Holographic DOF, I didn't know I had so many of them? I had thought I just had the one.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm an accolade kind of guy and I like trying to do the doff missions to boost accolade number and they are my favorite way to earn some minor dilithium. I can't even function through this F'd up system! Forget it. Cryptic keeps wanting to break what isn't broken instead of fixing what is. FED UP! Might as well start referring to this as SW:TOR or a bad knock off of WoW, cause they certainly are getting it WRONG!!!
Found some more stuff that was "fixed" when they weren't broken:
When you don't have all the commodities you need to start a mission and you add them via the replicator, you must cancel out of the mission you were trying to start ... and then go back in again ... which means re-choosing all your doffs (which, if they were different from the "recommended" list, means going all the way through the list of doffs again). And since the available doffs are no longer sorted by department (but by those most likely to help a mission succeed to least likely), you may have to go through almost all of the list to find *again* the ones you'd chosen before. Be sure to have everything you need for the mission *before* choosing it, if you want to reduce the frustration. Also, just found this out: If you *didn't* have the commodities ready for use the first time and bought them via the replicator, the "begin assignment" button will stay greyed-out. This means that you'll have to click "X" in corner to close the doff system window. Now reopen the doff system window. This way the "begin assignment" button won't be greyed-out.
And why in the world would I choose purple and blue doffs for missions where you *lose* the assigned doffs if the mission is successful? But the automatic recommendations pick from purple on down.
And why would I choose purple and blue doffs that have *nothing* to do with making the mission succeed? I wouldn't ... but the automatic recommendations do just that. For instance, if a green security doff can do the contraband-turn-in just fine, *why* would I choose a blue or purple one (that I would rather save for other missions)?
And when you choose a doff for a mission slot ... it is *not* removed from the available doffs list. If your mission needs, say, four or more doff slots, you'd better have a good memory for which ones you've already chosen, or you might choose the same ones again. In the process, you might end up putting them in another slot, and then the one they were in is empty. Yes, you can scroll along the list of doff slots ... but only when the list of available doffs isn't open also. If the latter is open, you *cannot* scroll the list of doff slots ... even if you move the latter aside so that both are visible to the user.
And while missions are running, they are sorted by department and alphabetically within each department ... they are no longer sorted by soonest-to-complete to latest-to-complete.
These are improvements? I think not. I have been a user since Sept. 2012. I do *not* need my hand held. I do *not* need to be babysat. If I were a brand-new user, yes, I would need some additional help for awhile ... but not permanently.
Here's a suggestion: Two settings (like for STFs): Normal, for those who wish to have the new "improved" system. Intermediate or Elite, for those who wish to have the old system back. At least this way the decision would not be forced on a user. They would pick the one they prefer. (Btw, I am usually a "normal" setting user overall in STO, but I would not choose "normal" under these conditions.)
If I were still drinking alcohol, I would say: Good grief. I need an ale, not just a beer.
- there is no sort or filter option
- there is no sort by time on the curent assigments
- there is no window to see the new doffs you got from a pack/assigment/exchange
- the ui is anoying - the assigment details box is too big and when i select and start an assigment when i go back to see the rest of them it gets me to the top again
+ i have no pluses... the new patch didnt bring any added value to the old system.
i agree the doff system needed some touches but not like this!
Dear PWE,
If you really felt you needed to dumb down the system to cater to less intelligent/detail-oriented players, you could have easily avoided pissing off their counterparts-with-higher-IQs by dividing the Duty Officer selection system into two parts. The first, called "Basic", would be the system as it is now. The second, called "Advanced", would be the system as it was before.
Please take this suggestion into consideration, and really, take -all- suggestions and input into consideration, when next you make a major UI change.
And why would I choose purple and blue doffs that have *nothing* to do with making the mission succeed?
Higher quality doffs result in higher CXP payout just for greater purpality. Of course, the system would have to figure out why people are running a given mission.
