A Trill, a Gorn, a Jem'Hadar, Bejoran and a Voth walk into a bar, and the Bartender asks "What is this a Joke?"
"Nope, just my away team" the trill replies before ordering a round for the bar.
Took me a bit to figure this out, what does TRIBBLE me off is added 16 new duty officers to my all ready full list that I have been slowly turning into all green/blue/purple more and more to the the advance side.
from what my fleet has tested NEW gamers who have samples in their personal inventory can convert them.
older members cannot
but most importantly any samples stored in a fleet bank and then put into ones personal inventory cannot be converted..
BRAVO cryptic.. BRAVO!
I've been around since day one and had no trouble, once I found it. I just double clicked an item and conversion store appeared. Once the store was up, i was able to convert all of my samples both in bank and inventory. It's not very obvious though. They could've done a better job of pointing out how to do it in game.
All i get is a window that reads cannot eqip item.
I received the same message. I found that if I ran a mission I could then convert them afterwards. Given that I had limited inv. space for my samples I ended up having to run 3 missions before converting all of my samples.

1. Log in.
2. Put some samples from the fleet bank into your personal inventory.
3. Change character - to the same character.
4. Try it now.
You should be able to convert everything, but only samples that was in your personal inventory when logging in as the character seems to be able to "start" the conversion process.
Too many of these people think like Khan... Two-dimensionally.
As the fleet admin, I moved all the fleet's crafting items to my personal inventory, logged out and back in, right clicked, and converted all in about 10 minutes...
As long as you don't discard the items, some folks need to drop the doom-and-gloom and figure it out... If you just can't/won't do it, I'll be in-game all day today... Pass your frustrations off to me...

Also, for fleet personal, breaking up (control+move) a stack stored in the fleet bank will allow you to open the coversion store for all stacks.
Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.
What's my position?
That people should know what they're screaming about!

Quick question when I doubled clicked the data samples the conversion comes up and then buy using the samples, they disappear and I see nothing added to my inventory....where do I need to go to claim these? Sorry if this been asked before.

When you convert them, they are placed the new R&D tab in your inventory. The new materials are no longer part of your standard inventory.

Very nice read, already answers a few questions I had. What kept me from converting the tons of material I still have: in the conversion window I read "bound to character" on the converted goods. Are they really bound or can I move the converted materials to my other toons?
Also, do the results of the conversion differ depending on types of particles? Say Mk. X particles (from B'Tran) yield better results than Mk. II (Delta Volanis) or is it just completely random?

well, there are six teirs of the regular particles in the old system, and the rare particles. Teirs 1-3 give commons, 4-6 give uncommons, and the rare traces give something at random, maybe rare, but probably not.
The actual materials you get are NOT CBoP, but the conversion gives you a CBoP item that automatically opens itself.
The vendors I use on all 3 toons I wasn't able to sell them back they show up as EC Zero under 9.5. Last time I use them was in 9 to convert non-combat baby horta into combat adult horta. I should have sold them the rest.

Log out and back in again - that did the trick for me.....
This works when the 'Data Samples' are in Personal Inventory. This doesn't work for the Bank Inventory, so you will have to move a stack
Note: The conversion process works with items both in personal and bank inventory...
