What about KDF mercenaries/subject skin packs?

I think it would be nice to profit from the "red federation" the empire became in STO and utilize Nausicaan, Gorn and Orion ships. Some of them are in game, albeit a lot of those NPC ship classes are still missing. I know we also want new shinies to play with and new ships to acquire, but wouldn't it be a nice gesture at Cryptic to grant us skin packs for the appropriate KDF ship to be turned into a base version of those ships?

Right now, Klingon ships are classed by their model/name. This could be changed for all the stock ships, so instead of having the B'Rel Bird-of-Prey, Qorqh Raptor and K't'inga Battle Cruiser those classes could be renamed following the logic established with Starfleet's ships and called "scout", "light raider", "Battlecruiser", "Heavy Battlecruiser" and so on. But all of those classes would recieve a skin pack, able to transform say the K't'inga into an appropriate battlecruiser type model resembling a Gorn Haegemony vessel or a Nausicaan model.

This way, while not getting actual new ship types, we could at least get a few non Klingon ships in the game. It eliminates the fact that all the other races just use Klingon ships and equipment.

I didn't read any further than this . we do NOT ALL wabt this. I stick with Klingon design ships

Even with a non Klingon toon? I didn't say "I want everyone to play Gorn ships", but do you really play KDF with the mindset of "How awesome it is to play a Gorn in Klingon Garment, flying Klingon ships and using Klingon weapons?

Well...your idea has some merit considering certain circumistances, however personally I'm not in support of it.

While I'd love to further develop the ship line of the non-Klingon species in the KDF, I don't think this is the way to go about it.
First of all, it oppens a can of worms that Cryptic seems heavily reluctant to open - people wanting Kumari layout for the Defiant, or HEC layout for a Kumari...not to mention Odyssey layouts for the Galaxy for ex., etc.
Secondly, I'd like Cryptic to expand the KDF lineup of starships with some current NPC models of the "allied" species or new designs. This would give us the opportunity for a more varied lineup suitable for multiple playstyles, that could influence a rise of player population in the KDF. If they go about it like you're suggesting, they'll probably slightly apease the KDF players that are fans of the non-Klingon species, but in essence they get the same ships - so nothing new and exciting there.
And finally, given how rare are the ocassions in which Cryptic releases something KDF related in the C-Store, I'm fairly certain that if they decide to turn those ships into playable models, they'd make more profit per effort by making them an entirely new ship with unique layout and abilities than just releasing them as skin packs.

Now, I mentioned the idea having some merit in some circumistances because looking at Cryptic and they way they're handling the factions in their game, it's painfully obvious that there is more chance for STO to shut down before we get player versions of all those ships. So releasing them as skin packs would be in line with Cryptic's lazy mantra and people could enjoy having them.
Then again, it is Cryptic we're talking about, so to expect them to make a new ship design and not just copy-paste a setup of another Fed or Rom ship and charge 2, 2.5k Zen for it, is a long stretch in my book.

I get what you are saying, but I guess I am reluctant to think about any new ships to buy since the whole practice of power creep ships just doesn't go anywhere. Yes, new ships are nice, but actually the KDF has all the ships it needs (aside from the canon designs still missing). What will Klingons get? Possibly just carbon copies of Starfleet ships, I could see the new Patrol Escort Refit being reskinned as either a "raptor" or "nausicaan destroyer" or something like this, probably even with the "tail gun".

But this is also a good sign. Almost anything I wish for with the KDF faction (aside froim, well, being in another game) is of a cosmetical nature at this point XD
