What Reputation Sets to Choose

just looking for a little advice on the various reputation sets to choose from.
I've got toons of each faction and most of the classes, fed (tac/sci/eng), klink(tac/sci), rommie (sci).
I've maxed out all their reps, tier 5 in all, but the Undine (that's just an unpleasant slog in all their missions. I'll wait for the double marks to pop back around where I can do something different to earn their marks.)
My question is what is the best gear for each class? I've got bits and pieces and sometimes complete sets for various toons but there is so much to choose from I'm getting a bit overwhelmed by trying to keep track of what piece of gear is good for who.
My tac guys are your typical escort or battlecruiser (in the case of the klingon) aggressive fast cannons and 1 torp. The eng comes in fast tends to slow down and tank with beams and torps. The sci guys are typically stay on the edges toss GW, torp spreads, launch fighters and sometimes run cloaked torp/mine boats.
