In the series when firing a Phaser beam we would see two pulses of light that converge along the phaser array strip to the point of fire and the phaser beam would emit from the point that the two pulses met like in this scene.

This has been an occurring effect in every Star trek series bar Enterprise and the Original series
I believe that this effect should be implemented into the game for Federation Starships.

    In the same scene you linked there are several ships that DON'T use that effect. Couple of specific points: Akira/Steamrunner/? at 3:53, Akira at 3:58 and 4:00. It seems to be dependent on the type of array being used, where large strips like those on Galaxy and Intrepid classes would display that type of charge-up while other ships would have more focused emitters.

    The main problem with a request like this is then that it requires only certain ships to use that animation. This is problematic to wire up when each ship uses exactly the same weapon equipment from a gameplay standpoint. It would require specific ship models to check the item that's equipped for each firing hardpoint, then play the corresponding animation. I doubt it's really feasible for a game like this.

    The universe has a wonderful sense of humor. The trick is learning how to take a joke.
