Whatever your opinion of the change to exploration, perhaps we can agree on one thing: It makes absolutely no sense that there is a region of unexplored space right next to Earth and Vulcan. I get it that they needed something in that sector block, but I still can't think of a logical reason for its existence now that the clusters and being removed. So, why not just remove this illogical one completely? Or, at least move it down near the transwarp gate? It's current location doesn't make a lot of sense. Does it?
It seems like a good opportunity to clean up the game, given that clusters are essentially being removed.
I agree. Starfleet has been to the Delta Quadrant but in the 100+ years Starfleet has existed nobody has been to this lil patch of space right under their nose? Doubtful.
Also sick of the BOff popup you get every time you go to ESD
lol. Through all the "exploration is deeeeeeeaaaaad" posts, really this was all I was thinking. How many times have I accidentally clicked warp and went there instead of beta ursae like I wanted to? Delta Volanis is really the worst, altho the purple doctor you get out of it is neat.
Hell, Delta Vonalis doesn't currently work for Klingons, so my KDF characters are in full support of Cryptic moving it.
I have a number of KDF toons. Only 2 have the VR doctor. As the only way to get it is crit the Support DV mission and as my characters can't enter the map, oppotunity is fast fading. If they are going to dump clusters they had better address this.

I always figured since Sector Space was just your ship's stellar cartography lab, that Delta Volanis was not directly next to earth, just that the warp route was in that direction.

Especially since Delta Volanis and Arucanis never existed in Star Trek canon.
Personally, I rather them put in the missing Federation Alpha Quadrant sectors and move Vega where it supposed to be (in canon and in the real world). And maybe use that to make exploration spots. Better than them turning into some magical door in space.

This always bugged me. If you ever took a look at the old Maps showing the Federations holdings across the Alpha and Beta Quadrants....The Federation extends far to the left of Earth, the Sol System and Sector 001.
All of these Exploration Clusters were in the way of what should of been proper space held by different factions. And yet we were to believe regions of space as far as Gamma Orionis had been thoroughly explored compared to regions within distance of the lowest Warp setting. Starfleet should be embarrassed about the lack of information collected for regions that were otherwise considered at the heart of Federation space.
Now I can sympathize with those who feel the Clusters removal is a bad omen. After all these Clusters do provide a significant percentage of actual sector space that a player can fly about in or interact with. And to remove that does present an image that the Devs are removing a significant portion of the game. But the system governing the Clusters was subpar and limited. While at times it provided a platform for Diplomatic Missions and a means to farm Particles. It really had very little effect on the core gameplay. As a Vice Admiral I cant tell you the last time I went into an Exploration Cluster as my focus now is Reputation Points, Fleet Marks and Creds and Dilithium Farming. And Im sure many will point out that that is exactly why it was removed. It lacked any drive for the player to grind and possibly turn to using RL Money to fund their grind. But that doesnt change the fact that what originally started out as a promising concept fell flat on its face once it was implemented. It doesnt change the fact that these Clusters are taking up space all along the borders of Sector Space doing very little for Players and their advancement through the game. And the Foundry has since become the core of 'Exploration' in this game. As well the Duty Officer Menu is more then efficient at covering Diplomatic Missions.
Although I do wish the Duty Officer Tasks were some how able to open up otherwise unknown Missions that would lead your character and bridge officers into actual playable missions. Including Diplomatic First Contact/Treaty Oriented Missions. But that is a whole other matter entirely.
Hello, I am a new player for start trek online, I recently downloaded the game and to start with was very off put about the download size. Personally from what I've experienced so far the download should have been half the size. Also the program that I was forced to download alongside of star trek online called arc, is a very nifty piece of technology that will undoubtedly put steam out of business.
Then I proceeded to play a tutorial that seems that it was made for children, like infants. Go do this, go do that, railroading players. The tutorial didn't teach anything that you couldn't figure out from having played any game ever.
Several hours and many annoying cutscenes later, I arrived at Earth Space Dock, aka the Galactic Emporium Space Mall, with armed guards for customer security. Pretty good art work and whatnot went into this. I talked to the boss man in charge of the place and he gave me a space ship for my troubles, strange that a fresh out the academy cadet gets to command a starship, bad investment choice there.
Boss man Quinn proceeded to give me my first assignment to go kill some orions that were raiding a freighter right outside of the space mall, cause there definitely isn't a fleet or anything guarding a large circumference around Earth. So on my way to the orion slaughter fest, I get prompted to go to some strange place. Delta Volanis Cluster? Boss man quinn didn't mention that, but since I grew up watching star trek and don't like being rail roaded into things, I decide to take a look.
This Delta Volanis Cluster is a strange place, there are freighters and tentacle like ships all over the place, I wonder how they got here. There are some anomalies and what not here that it seems I am supposed to scan, they did a lot of that on the TV show so this makes a lot of sense. So I proceed to fly around and scan some anomalies, this is strange though since they are giving me things for scanning them and I have no idea what they are for. The tutorial doesn't even mention them.
Wow, I just realized that I have no idea where I am anymore. There is no auto course for me to get out of here like there is to plot towards a mission. Guess I am gonna pull a voyager and get lost in the Delta (volanis) Quadrant. Meanwhile I might as well do some more stuff while I am trying to figure out how to leave and get back on the railroad tracks that Cryptic has been so kind enough to lay out for me. I go ahead and go a little of course to visit an unknown system, cause they did a lot of that on the TV show too if I recall correctly.
Man this is great, I warp in am instantly hailed by the planet asking if I can render assistance, since this does not violate the prime directive which as a fresh out of the academy cadet I should be very familiar with, I oblige. They want a few things to help their colony and whatnot progress, so I'm definitely gonna help them out since that is the right thing to do in this situation.
But wow, this entire experience so far has been completely unacceptable. This content is terrible. The download size is too big, and I some how managed to get lost in the Delta Quadrant voyager style. I quit pce out.

I laughed so hard while reading this post. Thanks for sharing.
Well, now you all know why klingons were never able to access delta volanis, at least in the past year. Because cryptic was planning to remove all star clusters.. so there was no point on fixing it :P
