Ah Canada, oh Canada. The place where one of the biggest attributes to national identity is that they aren't American!

All joking aside, happy Canada day!

To continue the joking, we can't forget this classic song.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

The other attribute is that they joined Britain in two world wars from the onset.

But, I won't politicise this thread.

Happy Canada Day/Confederation Day! Canada is one country I'd love to visit given the chance!

P.S. Do any of you still call it Confederation Day?

    Not anymore.

When we repatriated our constitution from England in 1982 through a special Act of Parliament here called the Canada Act of 1982, it also renamed the holiday.

Re-Patriation (a made up word by Canada) was a big deal at the time. It essentially gave us the right to alter our constitution without the consent of the British. The Queen approved it by Royal Proclamation and signed it in a big ceremony in Ottawa.

And to our cousins to the south - Hope you all have a safe & fun 4th of July!

Re-Patriation (a made up word by Canada)

Sounds like one of Red Green's words. :D

Happy Canada Day to all, especially my sis-in-law, nieces, and several good friends!

This USA Southerner actually got to enjoy Canada Day back in 1999, while working a week of camp for the Ojibwe First Nations children in Duck Mountain Provincial Park in Manitoba. It was the first day in two weeks that I didn't have to wear at least my light winter jacket. Beautiful place though, and the Canadians really made us feel welcomed.

A happy Canada Day to all you Americans and faux-Frenchmen living up north.

What's that? Whaddaya you mean you're not Americans? You live in North America, therefore you're Americans! Q.E.D.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

A four hour drive seems like a really lousy reason to love Canada.

Not to mention more Dairy Queen ice cream shops than I've ever seen in USA cities. At least in Manitoba. Honestly friends, ice cream outnumbering warm fast food? In the frozen north? :D

To be fair, I don't know a lot of Canadians who could label all 50 American states on a map. ;)

Happy Canada Day to our fine neighbors to the North! I am delighted the USofA shares a continent with some of the best people on the planet. Good people. People who understand what real beer is supposed to taste like. People who have generously and unstintingly shared many things with us many times.

Why am I happy about Canada as a 'Murikan? Two words - William Shatner. Two more words - Lorne Greene.
Last two words - Geddy Lee. There are lots more words which cover things Canada has shared with the USofA. But if I give them to you instead of making you go and look them up, you won't learn anything. What? Okay, then.
Just a few more. Teri Clark. Shania Twain. St Pauli Girl. Molson's.

Thank you Canada. This is one 'Murikan who really appreciates all you do to make this world a better place!

And yes, I am indeed serious. I would never joke about Shatner or beer. Some things are sacred.
