I was lucky enough to get the Dyson ship from the original reputation project rather then the c store.
it came with VR VA ship parts which to this day i haven't replaced yet.
my question is for a sci ship should i replace any of the ship parts with ones from any of the reputation system or are they the same or not as good as the ones i have?

well, being that the warp core and secondary deflector are part of sets, and since there arent any more secondary deflectors yet, you have to keep that. the warp core it all depends on IF you plan on using the Dyson rep set with it.
everything else, treat it like a normal sci ship.
The only replacement parts come from the C-store bundle. Freebie ship is locked into the one configuration.
Even then, the freebie parts don't change much of the ship, usually they swap out armor plate and in one or two cases does it add armor plating over some of the exposed superstructures.
What bugs me the most about this ship is that it has to use that glossy as all heck white Dyson paintjob. Especially for my KDF and Republicans - both of which are my primary sci-royer users as my Feddie main still rocks his Vesta...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

he means COMPONENTS. not MATERIALS. Components being warp core and secondary deflector.

IMO, unless you really want to make use of the complete set, the only really needed item to remain is the secondary deflector, otherwise you can pick and choose what you want, and as for the cores, they are meh and easily trumped by a good fleet core IMO.

That would be nice if a person could get a fleet warp core/singularity core. If can't get one, then just run with the set the ship came with. The set itself isn't bad, if you know how to use it right.
I threw the Reman shield on mine from the mission Coliseum, and it looks AWESOME. Yes, unfortunately that means I can't change shields, but what the heck, it's only PVE, and for pvp, well, then you are buying the upgraded ones anyway, and you can recolor them somewhat.

The equipment you put on should supplement the abilities you intend to use on your ship. You need to take a look at what BOFF skills you intend to put on, how it should play, and examine what stats need to be boosted to make those abilities perform well.
For example, if you're going for a Gravity Well style of build, you need good Graviton Generators Skill. Outfitting deflectors, consoles, bonus that make your shield heals strong means your Gravity Well won't pull and keep NPCs inside it well, and you can watch with embarrassment as they easily move away from it.
If you want to do a Drain Build for example, you need very, very high Flow Capacitors Skill. But if you outfit Borg 2 piece and Elite Fleet Shields and no dedication to Flow Caps, you might as well make sweet love to your enemies because you won't be doing ****.

Me too. I plan on upgrading to the MK12 rep version when I hit T5.
