Just had an amusing pug match

I joined the standard pug pvp arena queue, knowing it was probably suicide. I get in and am up against what looks to be a premade. My team consists of me in my JHAS, another tac, and three sci's. Of course, it's over 0/15 in about three minutes, but what really had me laughing was that I, the tac JHAS, was having to play the healer...

To the sci's!

I pulled off a ramming speed somewhere in there too.
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

Not all sci ships are healers.

Right. But, a sci ship that doesnt have a single castable heal is failing the team. Even TSS1 and HE1 can be life savers coming from a high aux ship. Even in premade teams there wont be a sci ship so specialized that it cant toss a heal to a team mate being focused.

Well yes, I do carry one HE1, but on the flip side of what you said it is also extremely over specialized and it works great for the teams I play with. Overspecializing in sci is no different than overspecializing in crits and damage, done well it can be very effective.

I'm not talking about specialized builds here. I'm pointing out that I'm the one who's supposed to be barfing up the damage while being supported by the three sci ships, not the other way around (and they had no damage to speak of).

Not all scis are healers but a sci without a healer loadout is a nooblet. You can't expect the escort to have healer loadout.

pretty much the standard of pug stf's for the escorts to be the healers since their the only ones that can just move away when other classes are too slow. thus relying on their heals.

wrong combo of heals and a sciship is reduced to a slow squishy thing.

try hopping out of your roach and use a sci ship for a few matches.

Nah, that's not true. Sci Ships can keep up pretty well with the escorts on their team, they just have to use EpTE. Actually that makes sci vessels stronger healers than some fat carriers. It's their mobility. If you're a pugging tac, take a sci supporter and q up with him. Might improve your experience.

Overspecialized builds are stupid and only work well in rare circumstances (snoop build comes to mind). If you're a sci and you're giving up team heal/resist support then you're doing it wrong. As a sci you don't want your team to have to support you...you should be supporting them. Don't let me stand in your way though. Go run your single HE1 and pretend you're actually doing something that's not stupid as ****.

What can tacs do except overspecializing in damage, aka crits?

I'd rather have a sci healer/shutdown in team than a fbp/snooper overspecialized one.
