Complexity isn't a bad thing if it allows you to control the outcomes.

They said that the higher the level the more there's certainty for blue and purple outcomes, but frankly we just haven't had the opportunity to test that. Having maximum skill in crafting should grant a general absolute certainty of outcome. This isn't the powered alien artifact assignment where you're TRIBBLE around with alien technology and have only half a clue what you're doing and no idea whether it's going to blow up. You are constructing known technology. Every engineer in Starfleet should be able to competently assemble a phaser array if he has all the components. Trip Tucker installed Phase Cannons on short notice with no Starbase. TONY STARK BUILT THIS IN A CAVE! WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS! Not actually knowing what the outcome is going to be when you're building it makes no sense. They're building a part that they went to Starfleet Academy to learn how to build, then they should have certainty. I can't see any Starfleet officer, self respecting Klingon engineer, or hard scrabble Romulan soldier building something and not being certain of the quality. It just seems weird.

A Galaxy is not big enough to carry a Miranda class.

Yeah its really bad if a competent officer of any faction can't have the mechanical aptitude to fix a sonic shower or a food replicator lol. Basically they are saying you have the mentality of a caveman hoping a rock or a hammer banging on it will be the basis of your building capacity lol.

    Exactly.

If I'm scanning a sector hen finding a Tachyon particle source is a random event, there's nothing random about the quality of a hand phaser I put together.

On that note, another issue in the DOFF system, that isn't actually new, but ongoing and even more glaring with the reworking of the DOFF assignment selection menu. It never puts the absolute best DOFF for a job in. I wanted to do a simple component assembly. I have 6 Fabrication engineers. It placed a green quality Fabrication Engineer into the slot automatically. But I have 4 count them Four Purple Quality Fabrication Engineers that were available. I have never understood that. And since it actually places your doffs automatically, it's just a pain.

That would explain Starfleet's excessive systems redundancies....:P

Looks good, but are you going to make it so we can trade in multiple traces at a time?

First off, I am fully aware this crafting is still in the early stages but have seen some thing which I do not like at all....

    * For Doff Missions unable to pick career type doffs for specific missions and difficult to see if other doffs have required traits.

    * Crafting - Converting old material into the new: TOTAL GRIND and TIME CONSUMING.

Now one thing I have not seen or maybe I've missed is what if any idea are in store for people who are already master crafters??? Having to grind all over again is not fun.

I agree with this 1 and other comments before, really if you have in the old system 1650 points in crafting we should do again grind grind grind.
Ui is to symbolic you should give players at list 2-3 graphical view modes of Ui (1st more textual like old system) , or something that we can design, its look like excel table with large icons and pics .

This new system is not bad idea but it come very late and it's copycat from other MMOs.

I expect more original ideas and graphical solutions,BUGs FIXED, but cryptic is brain limited . Game is still look like its made from tape and paper , nothing new can come out with old ways of thinking.

That is the reason why I didn't touch old crafting in 4 yrs. and if it become modified complicated old version I will not touch it when come's out, its not worth it.

This time Cryptic Dev's have to do more more seriously work or no 1 will touch crafting !!!

PS: Dev's go and see what is the good quality of other MMOs, ask players community open your minds & eyes may be you will see something.
In the beginning there was all and then become nothing

I AM PISSED OFF AFTER 3 YRS. I STILL CAN'T USE OR CHANGE OR DELETE OUTFIT IN 3 OF 5 OUTFIT SLOTS ON MY KLINGON TOON !

The alterations to the Doff system are certainly the most grating at this point even more than the dilithium costs. That could change though.
