I just bought the undine rep photon grenade. Here is the comparison with a random drop grenade module. I don't know if the tooltip are affected or not by my skills, but even if they do, both are.
Undine : MK XII, VR
360.9 damage
-16.7 runspeed
On expiration : 33damage (ignore shield), double against undines
Random grenade : MK XI, VR (no MK XII it seems)
433.1 damage
70% chance KB
Even vs undines, the rep grenade do a maximum of 426.9 dmg, and it's highly conditional (Undines + target still alive after 8s, good luck with that). Having a part of those damage ignore shield is no big deal when the grenade itself ignore 50% of the target shield anyway.
So what's the point into buying a rep grenade, when a 1 rank lower random drop grenade do more damage ? That's the whole point of this power, to do damage.
As for the CC, KB>snare. But maybe that's just me.
They cost a lot more (15K dil + marks + 30K ec + rep rank unlock), and are not worth it.
Advice :
Spend those 15K dil for zen (about 100 currently), add a bit of dil to make it to 125zen (1 turn contraband + 1 ISE should be enough), buy a key from the store, sell it on the exchange (2.8m currently), and with the money buy a VR grenade module (2M). You can keep the extra 800K ec.
Haven't looked the other 2 module, are they as bad as they look ?
There is a purple MKXII grenade, it's just expensive.
And I've noticed this as well. My old kit grenades do more damage than the new shiny rep ones. I have both the special and the tactical ones. They don't seem to have much effect on Species 8472. I tried stacking it with the life leech mod and the pink smoke machine mod, but there really isn't much to be said about it.
I do like life leech, though. For obvious reasons. As far as the grenades are concerned, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Rep gear should be the best in game. But it isn't.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.
Ground Weapons XII too I've notice seem to have not the same effect as Voth AP Weapon XII. In all I'll my Bridge Officers that Beam down with me use those weapons to see again but Voth AP Weapons are more effective. Personal Shield XII 335 Health (cost 9K-D seems less than my Personal Shield XI 391 Health. I know it has a bit more features than what I had. I'll have to see how it goes. I was hoping it would be 491 Health.
