    Sometimes it gets quite ridicilous.

People are worried about a mark weekend where you get a few extra marks out of your efforts. Sure, I was looking forward to that and collecting mark boxes for a while. I certainly hope it was just a mistake and that it will happen (eventually, and for everyone that bothered to shuffle around his real life plans for this game, that it happens at the date originally scheduled). But still, it's not that terrible of a thing to be delayed or removed.

Thank you for the troll bait .
Thank you for being quite ridiculous .
Now how about you make some posts about things that matter to you instead of poo-pooing things that matter to others .

Or ... , perhaps how about (here's an original one for you) -- how about suggesting that if either the devs or the CM would react a bit faster not only with bug squashing but with rumor & misinformation correction -- well then they could have saved us not only player aggravation , but your need to poo-poo people as well .

    I think it's a brilliant solution .

But I guess that that is a pipe dream really , as most of the Devs seem perfectly happy to either talk at us on Reddit , or Twitter , or Podcasts or ... just not talk with us at all .

    Good times . :o

As usual with these cases, it's all happening over a weekend, and people get all up in arms about something. It has rarely, if ever been the case, that such topics have been resolved over the weekend. Why do you expect this to change? Why would it actually, for practical reasons, need to change?
Whatever, Unless the server is crashing or something like that, the weekends means little to no communication.

Not everyone person at Cryptic is involved in every single decision. Maybe someone like tacofangs could post "No, everything is going to turn out all right, just a problem with the calendar", but he most likely simply wouldn't have a frelling clue what it was, and would first have to reach out to whoever might know - and he might not even know who that would be, and even if he did, that person is on weekend or vacation, possibly with his family.

In short, don't always expect that you will get official communication on a weekend. This isn't an urgent issue. The event (or no event) is still weeks off. It isn't something that affects you directly right now, like, say, not getting any marks from the current ongoing event, not being able to connect the server, like characters losing gear.

Yeah, cause the Devs are going to post things here when the only thing that happens is "You're LYING!!!!! RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE HFOIOGBRBSFIBUWIBF BHBWOBJEBOUIWOUBUFEW#&$)*^)@*&$)*%@^)*!!!!!!!!!!"

    That's true.

But to be fair, on most game forums I'm haunted, anything but fawning sycophancy and yes-men tend to drive developers into silent running mode.

Of course the only thing more annoying than bugs and no communication from devs, is sycophants like sle1989 running their mouths off, thinking these forums exist solely for them and their, well, sycophantic posts....

So yeah, on topic. Hourlies were taken away, with the reason that whole weekends of bonus' would benefit players more.
Then we get bonus marks weekends, what twice? since then. Now one has been taken away.
So, obviously players are a little upset.
Obviously they are allowed to be.

People in game are saying Bonus Marks have been officially removed. But now I think that's untrue after reading some devs twitter comments.

They really need to comment on the forums as there's now lots of confusion out there with nothing in Dev Tracker on the subject.

    Orly?

Not nerd raging myself but I would like to know one way or the other. Mind linking the devs comments from twitter? I have no clue what the devs twitter handles are.

    - For a long time, they said saucer seperation and MVAM would be practically impossible -and then it just came along.
So, in other words, they have a long and extended history of dishonesty. Why, then, do you think it is unreasonable for people to expect the worst every time something like this happens?

to be fair they could do everything perfect and people will still hate them for not being good enough... I don't blame cryptic for lying, I would too.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

Let me see if i follow your argument here.

Some people will moan, no matter what, so therefore it is a perfectly sensible response by Cryptic to lie to everyone else.

Isn't it more reasonable for Cryptic to actively keep moaners to a minimum? Perhaps by not being quite so generous with giving things to moan about?

actually the correct thing to do is, do what is best for the game and ignore the whiners in whatever form they may take. there will be mistake of course. because, and I'm sure few agree with me, game devs are human therefore flawed.

trying to please every one will please no one.

trying to keep whiners to a minimum works out to be trying to please everyone.

and this fanbase is very much a unpleaseable broken sort.

Because sometimes their so-called "lies" actually end up with pretty neat outcomes for everyone involved.

And qualifying that as a lie is, welll, disingenous.

When a friend tells you he probably won't be able to make it for your birthday party, but manages anyway, do you also call him a liar and end up disappointed he's there?

No... But I'm not paying him to show up and organize it either.

I'm not calling them a liar (I have no grounds to) but they removed the old system that worked fine and said their "new" system would be better. Now that's gone with no explanation. Why would you Not think players would complain about that...

That analogy is terrible, and wrong. Terribly wrong.
    Its more like this one.

If your friend has come to your birthday every year with 5 bottles of home brand/ black and gold/ coles/ (insert american cheap base product), soft drink every year.
Then this year says he will bring a single bottle of good quality name brand soft drink.

    Then he doesn't turn up.

Then i would call him a liar.
