For anyone doing the special episode replay of Hearts and Minds this weekend (starts today after maintainence...since tomorrow is Friday the 13th):
If this is your first time playing it, you need to have an environmental suit for you and the one bridge officer you use to beam down; wear it as your armor.
The first time I did it, I couldn't figure out why I kept dying. You'll get exposed to some bad gas, and won't be able to breath without the suit.
You can get a free/basic/works-just-fine suit by starting the Boldly They Rode episode. You can grab two suits at the beginning (from the crate), and then you can drop the episode if you wish.

No, you dont need it. Its nice to have it, but you dont need it since the puzzle is easily solved (3 steps^^). Just dont loose your cool when the gas begins to decrease your HP and everything will be fine.
Romulan rebreathers work too. Or just be fast on the puzzle and you don't die.
I already have 4 of the doff clones. Not sure what use a 5th is... unless I can down-grind them to greens.
You cannot downgrade them. Therefore I won't do the mission because I allready have 3 waisting their place, because they are zivilian, I cannot send them for exchange.
"Shoot out the console". How would someone know what that means if they've never done this before today? Having the suit stops the mad rush. Sometimes helpful posts are meant for less experience players. They are my audience for this post that I created. If you have a faster way as an uber-experience players, have at it.
The rebreather is something I didn't know about. I have one Rom toon but don't have that equipment. I suppose the same logic applies, but it doesn't sounds any better than an e-suit, and everyone can have the e-suit.
The rebreathers are given to Romulans during one of their story episodes. I'm not sure which one anymore. They are unique to Romulans, other factions don't have them.
Also, anybody who did "A Step Between Stars" should have a Dyson EV suit which is one of the better ones in the game. LTS players and veterans should also have access to Combat EV Suits for free via a console at their faction's home base.
Thank you for reminding me about this mission. I'm not around this weekend, so would have missed out.
Huh. Doesnt appear to be available in the listings.

Not sure why are you suggesting the Kurland mission. At level 40+, everybody is supposed to have a mining suit.
