ok so we know that the secondary deflectors are coming I thought they would have been out by now anybody have a idea when they might be coming finally ? we have cruiser commands and flanking this one seems to be taking a little longer than expected so should we look for it for season 9.5 of 10 or 10.5? just wonder if there was word .........................because I know the pvp revamp is season 22 /sarcasm

While they usually don't really test for balance in a sufficient manner they must have found quite some balancing issues with them I assume. They'll still be unbalanced once they're out but at least it won't be as bad anymore.

It took a while for the raiders to get their flanking bonus as well, so I'm expecting probably around the next expansion. Most likely anyway.

I no longer do any Bug Hunting work for Cryptic. I may resume if a serious attempt to fix the game is made.

I want a third deflector, psychic ponies, elastic polyacrylic badge runnels, and replicator bacon.

    But not in that order.

I hope the holdup is them designing and testing new, unique, and interesting powers attached to the secondary deflectors.

I'm pretty sure the secondary deflectors are just going to be minor skill boosts...like the full sized deflectors, but smaller.

Then again, they could do it like Warp Cores and add unique mods that would make Science Vessels super-awesome.

I wish they wouldn't test these things, a bit like they didn't test the Valdore console... or the pre-nerf Elachi console... Science boff skills might become worth something then...

Can I get one that gives a +10km radius on Gravity Wells so I'm snatching things into the black hole from 15km+ away? :P

In all seriousness, I really do hope they add something to these deflectors that buffs up Sci Powah.

Confirms nothing. That list is rarely up to date or accurate.

This is why the deflectors were a bad idea, they should have been powers like the cruisers received, how long of a delay did it take between the launch of the avenger and mogh before the powers were retrofitted to all other CRUISERs in the game compared to this deflector fiasco

The "Let's tell everyone something that they want is on the way to keep them playing then hold out as long as humanly possible" strategy. Interesting.

I guess in the next expansion..

If they are not introduced in the next expansion.. i will say you can just forget about em. I guess it will be something included in the list of cryptic's "things that we promise, and we relase fully bugged or we dont release em at all". I hope im wrong, honestly.

Not quite. If they were just tiny skill boosts, there'd be no point. Here's the Solonae Secondary Deflector from the DSD. It's got three tiny skill boosts, and adds a passive shield stealing proc to several sci powers.

What I *hope* for is a decent variety of such passive procs on secondary deflectors. If they're too weak, they're pointless. If they're strong, they require more work and more time for design, balancing, and testing. And the secondary deflectors probably aren't the highest priority right now.

Maybe I'm putting a positive spin on it, but I'd rather they take their time and give us something good than rush something useless.

That Solonae deflector in particular is actually pretty good. I really want the devs to release the 2nd deflector update so I can slot it in my ship.

    When it's done!

Thats probably the most accurate release date you'll ever get.

But in all fairness I must say, implementing them must be a huge load of work. Just think of it, implementing: mission rewards, random drops, different models with different modifiers for Mk I - Mk XII, and the overall balance of the game.

Probably more likely that it is to try to decide what pay gates and fleet build walls to put them behind.

I see the fact that the deflectors are still missing as a sign that the implementation they had with the dyson ship was insufficient and needed a major rework. Maybe they actually figured out that some science skills are too weak too and are working on fixing those before finishing the deflectors.
Then again, they might as well do some major workaround without touching the broken skills, turning the deflectors into a gimmick that benefits everyone more than actual science characters.

Come on, this is Cryptic we are talking about. They are probably busy making another lockbox ship or anything that can make them money, instead of trying to balance skills that are useless for years now.

    Ah, but what year?? ;)

I am guessing either season 9.5 (if it happens) or season 10....

Nearly no effort was put into season 9, so the next expansion should be pretty epic!

I really hope you are right about that!

S9 was pretty poor quality really. Lots more bugs, most of which never even get ackowledged and barely any new story except for one FE.
The STFs they added in are empty most ofthe time and the battlezone is a poor copy of the Voth ground battlezone that doesn't payout as well.

I've built my sci ships around not having a 2nd deflector, and assuming they will never arrive. If they do then it will be a nice supprise i guess, i'm not holding out any hope though!

Hmm, this is pretty much the career of cryptic about STO since about the past 2 years... i think people is really get used to it. Expect 3 times more bugs in the next expansion.. :(, now i think the next expansion should be Epic, at least, the community of STO really need something huge!!.

Which is why I don't foresee good things moving forward either. S9 was about Species 8472, right? What improvement were made to Pelia sector? None. Actually outside of the FE and a few mini-raids there was nothing new. Leaves me with 0 faith the Delta Quadrant will have any appeal outside of the 'new car smell'.

I think the major "improvement" in the next expansion will be the addition of new zones to explore and new sectors. At least that is what everybody is expecting.. (and the devs commented about that time ago). More than that i dont have a clue on what will be the next expansion based. The Delta Quadrant, yes.. but .. Borg Homeworld? Another dimension? or what.. honestly, they will need a lot of imagination.. of course a lot of people are waiting for the secondary deflectors, but if i need to say, i dont think we will ever see secondary deflectors. That is too much work, plus the expansion.. pff, i dont think so.

Exactly, especially when they have made it clear that if something is too 'hard' it will not get done.
