I am saddened that so many are not enjoying the Summer Event this year. My fleet (which is made up of STO Lifers) are having a blast doing it. It's a great time for us to get together and just hang out for awhile. We run around and do events together, group up during the dancing and tease each other about missing a powerboard jump and slamming into a rock. There are times we even skip events because we are too busy chatting and enjoying ourselves.
The Devs have put a lot of work into making these things happen and I for one appreciate the chance to play my Star Trek Universe and not have it be about combat all the time. The summer and winter events also give them time to work on other issues that are still borked. There are only so many things that can be done in a few months and they deserve a break too.
I am actually just fine with the number of favors and items acquirable this year. We have 6 weeks to get them and it doesn't always have to be right now. That's the whole point of having the event is for you to ENJOY it the whole time. It also gives those who can only play maybe a few hours a week something to accomplish by the time they are done with the event.
There are a few issues with timing and such but once you learn the routine it becomes easy to know where to be on the clock and which event comes up next. So let's all just enjoy the views and take deep breaths and join the Klingons doing their Mok'bara exercises on the top of the arches.
Sadly, removing the joy seemed to be a main goal of Cryptic this year.
#1: Favor collection rate down, yet more to buy.
#2: A pay-to-win power-board race. (see #1) Once again, I ran my main toon with the Superior board. Everyone else had the cheap one. I sat at the finish line for 10 seconds before the other finished the race. I gave them all a gift... I didn't claim the flag this time. I'm sure they were all shocked. I took the 'participant' flag.
#3: Swimwear only useable on Risa. (again see #1 issue) I'd be fine with Risa only outfits if they were super-cheap (100 favors). But they are not.
Last year Risa was fine. Cryptic just seems to go out of their way to make things harder than they need to be.
I have been trying to spread the summer cheer, mainly by showing off my female toons in string bikinis and passing out favors for free to random people.

#1 - Agreed, but we do have more than a month. I understand the "want it now" feeling, but I try to keep in mind that the suits aren't wearable off Risa. That helps a lot. I started out with the "gotta collect 'em all" mentality for the suits, but... yeah, two, maybe three suits will be enough for me. I doubt I'll be on Risa that much after the event.
#2 - People keep saying pay-to-win, but it's not. I'm not saying the event is good, but pay-to-win would be if they released a special board in the C-Store for 500 Zen or something that's faster than all the others. Everyone (who didn't have a thousand favors saved up) started with nothing for the race. Some people ground out their thousand favors faster, but it doesn't really take that long to get a purple board. It was kind of a dumb idea, yeah, but another day or two and everyone will have one. Now, there is the issue of alts. If you want a board for all your characters, that can get pretty ridiculous. Some kind of discount would be nice? I don't know.
#3 - Only wearable on Risa has been gone over tons of times. CBS likely had final say on that - it would look silly for Spacedock to become Earth Bikini Base. I was going to suggest allowing suits anywhere where there's enough water to "swim" in, but... then I realized, that pretty much is just Risa.
Anyway, though, I totally agree with you on the suits needing to be cheaper. The fact that most of them are more expensive than the Beachcomber/Explorer outfits is ridiculous. All of them should be 500 or less. Plus, making the nice one-piece suits the most expensive at 1000 favors meant that almost every single female character just ended up with the cheap string bikini. Gee, what a surprise. If the string bikini had been 1000, maybe we'd see more variety.
Overall though, I think it's a fun event. My advice is to take a breath, remember it'll be around for a good while longer, and glance at the Exchange every so often to smile at the swiftly-dropping price of swimwear.
I think most players are enjoying the event, I know my friends and fleetmates seem to be. My main has practically lived there since the event started, only leaving occasionally to clear inventory, assign DOFFs, or shoot some pesky Borg. Really the most fun I had at the event wasn't actually playing there, but just lounging with friends, chatting...almost like a real vacation.
It's a bunch of fun minigames, some nice toys and outfits to make those games more fun, and very little that'll have any real impact on the game when the event's over. I don't see what there isn't to like, except that it'll all be going away too soon.
If you're not having fun, don't go. That's was me during the winter event -- not one thing about that was enjoyable to me. I ended up buying the outfits I wanted off the exchange for cheap at the end of it.
Translation: I don't have a problem with the glitches, nerfed favors, and I probably played last year and was able to get the ships(s) already so just shut up and enjoy it.
OK so I bought 2 swimsuits, opened both boxes, and neither one shows up in the tailor window. Yes I followed all the steps, and even submitted a ticket with the following response.
Thank you for contacting us about this issue. Based on your description of the issue you've already done the following:
1.You've purchased the swim wear and unpacked it in your inventory
2.Visited the tailor in Risa
3.Created or modified a costume slot
4.Clicked on the Head Tab
5.Used the drop down to choose Off-duty
6.Clicked on Uniform Tab
7.Picked out the individual pieces of the swim wear from each category (Upper and Lower Body)
If you have done all the following and the swim wear from Risa is still not available. Then, we would like to encourage you to submit a Bug Report, with your findings, directly to our QA team. This may be done by selecting 'Bug Report' from the list of available help options. Do note that Bug Reports are reviewed by members of the QA team, however you will not be able to edit or view any reported bugs. Additionally, Bug Reports do not receive personalized responses.
Please rest assured that our developers work to resolve all bugs as quickly as possible.
In the future, to help us provide the highest quality service to our players, please use the "Report a Bug" button in the Help and Support menu, rather than "Request GM Help", when reporting possible bugs that may not require immediate intervention by a GM.
Happy Gaming,
I've submitted the bug report, but still no swimsuit.... I've been trying for a few days now, and I'm at a loss.... ne1 have and solve this problem?

Actually I didn't do the event last year as the lack of events made it quite boring. Some of what you said was correct though. It just fascinates me how people can complain about stuff that the game makers don't even have to put into the game but choose to do so. If anyone doesn't enjoy it then don't go.
Anyway, this thread is for people to share their FUN stories.
The swimwear being restricted to risa wouldn't be such a hard pill to swallow if the price was more reasonable, but for map restricted items 500-1000 favors is just too much. (same reason I only used the bog standard floaters and power boards.
It's not myfault ifyoufeel trolledbymyDisco ball...Sorry'boutit.
I'm not seeing the issues with the event others are. Was able to make 2k alone in like 2 days. That was just being on a few hours. When I started doing the hunts on multiple toons, my favors skyrocketed.
I have all 11 swimsuits and my Superior UFP Powerboard. I had to buy a large chunk of Favors just to get them--with ECs and Lobi. To get what I have plus the 3 purple DOFFs, it would require around 13,000 Favors per character. That, I find, to be extreme for "just Risa" items. I have 13 characters total with Superior Floaters, clothing, and accessories from last year, which I was able to acquire by both grinding and buying. I can barely do that for just 1 character this year. I would settle just to have enough to get my four main character their stuff. I will be honest, I would rather have the Risa gear than the cruiser--especially since I have reach max capacity for ships. I really wish the prices would go down on the swimsuits or the favors increased.
As for fun, I LOVE my powerboards--regular or superior! I have been wanted to surf on Risa for some time. I had hoped New Romulus' waters would open up, but I am satisfied with Risa. And yes, having swimsuits to go along with it make it the best summer vacation I can have on STO.

The only complaint I really agree with is that the race is no longer a way for someone starting out to earn favors. The race was best on day 1, when everyone either had a rental or 50 favor board. You have no chance to get anything other than 5 favors if there are 3 players with boards better than yours, unless they're really bad at the race or grabbing the flag. Next year (maybe even this year if there's time for the devs to do it), we really need separate courses or scoring for different tiers of boards. It'll be more fun for everyone.
But yeah, I got everything I wanted except for the DOFFs today. I'm still on the fence about very rare DOFFs, so I'll just save favors. I think my friends will be getting some presents, in all honesty, since I'm out of stuff to buy myself. Two outfits are more than enough. I'm so glad I'm not one of those players that has to have everything or needs it for all of their alts.
Unfortunately the...functionality of the floaters was nerfed due to the limit on statues, i can find 10 in less than 5 mins with a standard floater...and since i do enjoy the event i have no interest in getting a faster floater to finish "flying high" for pearls
The only reason for a better powerboard was to race...but not in the...standard raceing event per se...i still run it for the monkies...to launder the monkies for marks.
Get ready for a bombshell that might get patched though...
POWERBOARDS WORK ON RISA'S Classic Beach xD.
The floaters don't but you could have some fun times hosting your own races around the classic beach while it lasts xD
You can also use motion accelerator on classic beach with ur boards xD.
So yea...have fun with that, Might make classic beach more lively, there's also no ESD type chat in classic beach yet..

While I do think the superior board should be better than a standard for the price difference it shouldn't be Mk I Miranda vs MkXIII Fleet Ultra-Rares T5 ship better as it currently is.
They should have kept the boards at the same speed and improved only the handling as the quality increases.
This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

This year I'm not attending out of boycotting the whole shebang due to the Luxury Cruiser.
