Regarding Commendations

I'm curious, what's the fastest method(s) to fill up any of the Commendation categories?

The Dyson Sphere has a couple of great DOFF missions that pop up once in awhile. One for Development, one for Recruitment. They are a bit rare, but if you get em, you easily can get 5k or so for a normal success, and easily break 20k on a really good crit.

For KDF, Marauding is really easy to level, especially if you head into areas like Cardassian space. Also do some stuff like turning in Prisoners, etc.

For Science and Medical, there's a series of DOFF missions that use some Gamma Quadrant Commodities. Finish those chains, and you can sometimes have repeatables that are worth good amounts of xp (1,300 for a normal success)

Military and Espionage both have a bunch of missions that are usually easy to find, most taking a few hours to 20 hours, but offer good amounts of xp each. Like 'Infiltrate the Orion Syndicate' for example.

If you go to your Dil Mine, depending on how far along it is, you can do two DOFF missions each day that are good amounts of Trade and Development xp, along with good amounts of Dil and EC, plus fleet marks and Dil Mine Provisions if you crit them.

I find...Development, Miltary, Espionage to all be very easy to complete, with Marauding also being easy for KDF.

Thanks Mimey. How about the Engineering stream? I don't see too many of those missions popping up, unfortunately (or maybe I'm not flying in the right sector blocks).

Well, I dunno of any really good huge amounts for it, but there are four missions in particular I like doing. Three are basically 'help get some dil'. You need a lot of Explosives Experts to do all 3 at a time, but one of them is a guaranteed 250 dil on a success. Another mission that is good xp is EV Suit Training, and needs Resolve DOFFs. All four are quite good xp.

Past that, not sure. Try to check your Personal Tab as well when you can. Once in awhile a good mission for something might pop up, or at the very least, you can do the Collect Contraband from Crew mission.

I find out of all of them, Exploration to be the longest to finish.

Will do, thanks. I'll just plunk my KDF Engineer in orbit of DS9 and see what Engineering doff missions pop up.

Besides the obvious ones, try sphere space, as mimey mentioned as well. Even if they only yield normal amounts of CXP, they can't be found anywhere else and might be a nice filler if you're just 2-3 assignments short of the cap or if others are on CD.

Another place for CXP are your bridge/interior contacts. They offer a few crafting assignments that don't appear on your department head, like the famous console crafting one.

Last but not least, there are the lockbox-assignments, if you have the money. Both the temporal beacons (850+ CXP for a non-crit) and the Tal Shiar codes (750+) can yield huge amounts of CXP in a very short time, since the assignments don't have any cooldown and don't count against your assignment limit.

The data sample analysis assignments award decent amounts of Science cxp, and I have a tendency to grab the assignments that collect data samples (the long missions of that type take 1-2h tops), so after I've scooped them up like krill, I'll then run the assignments to process them.

I'm sure your DPS is great, but as Kahless said, "a petaQ with high system mastery is still a petaQ." (Well, he should have said it...!)

Also one of the few ways to get Contraband for Fed toons, but a critical success is required.

Personally, I am slowly maxing out my commendations. I believe I only have 5 categories left. Development and I believe Exploration have around 98k - 99k XP each now. Colonization and Trade are the current laggards at about 65k XP each I think. Recruitment is in the middle of the pack at around 80k XP I think.

I think Trade will likely end up being the last one I will complete since I generally do not focus much on trading related missions. Colonization should be somewhat easy since I decided to focus on the colony chain missions. The goal is to get 2 or 3 copies of each of the Purple Doff rewards. Development should be fairly easy, but I have been ignoring most of those missions except for the one related to Dabo lately. Exploration is related so science so I look to my science officer for those; I don't really pay much attention to those missions though.

As for Recruiting, I try to do as many recruiting missions as I can on the off chance that I get a blue or a purple doff out of it. I hit Starfleet / Klingon Academy everyday for the Path to 2409 quiz so every 2nd and 3rd day I do the recruiting missions assuming I have available slots. Nowadays I only keep blue and purple Doffs all others are sold into slavery... If there is a personal mission for a Boff then I generally do that assignment and unless the Boff a get is rather unique, he/she will simply end up being discarded since I don't wanna bother listing them on the Exchange since I can list other higher value items. I try to do a lot of the Asylum / Sanctuary missions where you trade in a refugee for a Doff. I also do the officer exchange missions when I can as well.

Progress for my KDF toon is much slower since I primarily focus on Marauding missions (for Contraband and prisoners), Military (forced labor camps for dilithium), and Espionage (Doffs and Contraband). My KDF toon has a lot of Federation defectors. :)

Talking to all of your department heads in sector space is the fastest way to level up Eng, Tac, Espionage, Medical, Exploration (ruins/artifact exploration), and Development. There will be obvious assignments listed with a different background color that also award 50 dilithium on success.

This is just a rough start, but I'm making a list of good assignments that generally pay out 500 or more cxp:

And then there's the Dyson Sphere:
