Should one play thru the entire New Romulus rep missions before "Sphere Of Influence"

I'm getting that startup prompt from D'Tan to begin the "Sphere Of Influence" mission in which an Iconian Gateway on New Romulus is found. Feels like something got semi-spoiled, but oh well. I can deal with that.

My question is, should I press onward with completing the New Romulus rep tree? I'm currently working up to the final tier and indeed have already been given massive clues about the Iconian presence on the world. Is there a solid, cool reveal once I get to the end that merges into the Solanae Dyson story tree?

    There are some dialog changes if you did the rep, they acknowledge that you helped them out on New Romulus.
