Where can I find a Torpedo Spread 3 BOFF?

tilartatilarta Member Posts: 1,801 Arc User
I want to put 3 specific Tactical skills on a single BOFF.

In order, Tactical Team, High Yield Torpedo, Torpedo Spread 3.

I knew the Jem'Hadar BOFF has that skill, but when I tried to claim a second one for training purposes, it would not let me claim it as a mission reward.
So that can't be done.

Are there regular BOFFs with Torpedo Spread 3 that I could acquire and use to train a tactical BOFF?

Rare and Very Rare Tac BOFFs may have TS3 on them.

YOu have to look for one on the exchange, it is an ability of rare and very rare tactical officers.

If you are a 700 day veteran you can claim an android tactical officer (which you can reclaim I believe after using him for training purposes) that has the ability, too.

Doesn't the 2800 Jem Hadar also have this ability?

Edit: Only read the title, not the message. :o

Couldn't you dismiss the first one, claim another, use it to train, and then claim another to use as your active officer? Long winded, but saves potentially searching for a while on the exchange and/or having to pay what might be a high price.

Yep, set for lethal and blast your way to TS3...

OP already stated that that one is already in his crew.

    As for the OP.
I got incredible lucky to get a TS3 on my main tactical boff. Later, when I needed another one on a different character, I went exchange surfing. Payed about 700k, but that was definitely worth it.

A suggestion you might try: delete your Jem'Hadar boff, play Facility 4028 (or whatever the number is), claim Jem'Hadar, train boff, play mission again (after 30 minutes) reclaim Jem'Hadar, and you have both. I don't know what kind of abilities your Jem'Hadar has, but getting a new one might be worth it.

I doubt that you'll need your Jemmie when replaying 4028, so that could be a solution to your crew.

Apparently we both have problems reading. ;)

Hrmm, one of those probably could have been clearer...the set to lethal thing and blast your way to TS3...I knew what I was saying, but I didn't say it. Posting before caffeine...bad, mmmmkay. :P

Basically that setting to lethal instead of tagging is the faster way to run the mission to go through to get the BOFF. Yes, the OP already pointed out the inability to pick up a second while having the first slotted...so yes, you'd have to pull the gear make note of whatever abilities you wanted on him and dismiss him. Set to lethal, blast your way through, get him again and use him to train. If you actually wanted him as part of your crew, set to lethal, blast your way through again, and keep him.

All of that in my wee peabrain...almost none of it in what I typed out. Was just pointing out the faster way to get him again, since getting him again is the way many folks do it...my bad for not typing it all out.

I did manage to find one on exchange after a while.

But it wasn't easy, there are no search filters for BOFFs.

And for some reason, it wouldn't let me exclude KDF boffs (which, as a Starfleet captain, I cannot use), because when I tried, it changed search results to 0.

Cryptic really needs to revamp the search engine so we're not manually scanning BOFFs and DOFFs looking for this trait or that skill amongst 400 other crewmembers! :(

Nope, a Tactical Captain can however train in Torpedo High Yield 3 ... I think.

If only one could search the Exchange for specific abilities. And gender. (Male BOFFs are cheap ;) )

    No, they cannot.

In any case, the captain in question is an engineer, not a tac, so it doesn't help even if they could.

And the BOFF is non-tradeable, so can't be trained by another player.

Exclude kdf Boffs by searching for race.

"Andorian tac" for example will only show Andorran tac boffs, Andorian is a fed only boff race.

Yes, I did that in the end.

I picked Betazoid as my category and that's the one I bought.

If I do this again, I'm going to have to get a list of all known BOFF species for Starfleet, as I can't remember them all off the top of my head.

Can you claim and then use the android boff for training, then claim another one? And repeat? I did not know this. Can anyone confirm?

Off the top of my head, yes the android can be reclaimed, but I've never tried.

Having used it myself, it can be reclaimed. They implemented that feature after they added Sci and Tac Androids so people who had the Eng (original) could dismiss and claim another.

Other than the Android boff, the Jem'Hadar tac boff is another easy one to get from the Facility 4028 mission in the Cardassian arc. If you need more than one copy of TS 3, you can claim a Jem'Hadar boff for training purposes then once used, rerun the mission and get another.

Simple, 7 Step Program for getting Torpedo Spread 3:

    1. Copy down name, and bio (where applicable) of Jem'Hadar BOff.

    2. Unequip gear from Jem'hadar BOff.

    3. Run Facility 4028.

    4. Claim new Jem'hadar BOff as mission reward.

    5. Rename and add bio info to new Jem'hadar BOff.

    6. Equip old gear on new Jem'hadar BOff.

    7. Train skills as needed.

One of the tactical Romulan bridge officers from Embassy might have Torpedo Spread 3. I'm away from game so unable to confirm for sure.

Just run facility 2800 - dominion mission. If you already had a jem boff just dismiss it since you can always get a new one by rerunning the mission.

Once you obtain the jem boff as reward, just use the option TRAIN and train the tac boff that you want to have thTS3,

Maybe I'm missing something but, if someone already has the Jem'hadar BOff, why not just use the Jem'hadar BOff? He already has the skill and everything below that is trivially obtained at the skill trainer.

    I'm not a fan of non-customizable BOFFs.
The one I trained the skill into can be fully customized in terms of appearance.
Also, he happens to be a Liberated Borg, which is (supposedly) superior to Jem'Hadar for space specs.

If Torpedo Spread 3 is such an expensive skill to obtain, I'm really glad I'm not into tactical skills!
This character is the first one who wanted to use it and only because they are using a ship with a Commander level tactical station.

My other ships require you to spread the skills out over two boffs, one has the torpedo skills and the other one has the tactical team skills, because the tactical stations are Lt and Ensign respectively.

Thanks, my captains are fully maxed out, but i was wondering about it for my KDF alt i am just starting out with. He is going to need everything fairly soon. Lol.
