Low level ships

So I'd like to ask anyone advice here if i was to buy the NX class and the TOS constitution class starships to have would it be a waste if i was at commander level already or would it be ok to buy them and upgrade them with weapons and shilds? Because i love NX class and TOS constitution class.

    Some people would frown upon it, especially if you went into a cued team mission, but I don't think there is anything wrong with it.
    It's not my fault if you feel trolled by my Disco ball... Sorry'boutit.

    At commander level though, you wont have access to the gear, meaning it will be difficult.

    In general terms, these ships have little value beyond cosmetic once you level beyond them. The game mechanics eventually overwhelm them while you level.

    Once you're 50 however, then they can become fun if you get bored. Our fleet put together a team of NX class ships for the sole purpose of puggin elite stfs. Rommy plasma, adapted space sets... It can work, although it takes a LOT of effort and coordination - and patience from fellow puggers. ISE and CSE were doable - KASE was near impossible to do it with the optionals.

    My recommendation is keep it for the fun of it, but grind with something level specific for the ease-of-use.

    I just leveled up a new Tac toon and found the old TOS Connie had a rough go of it once you got into the commander level missions and up. I switched to the Cruiser Refit for the rest of the way up to level 50. You get a few more BOFF powers to keep you alive and the extra hull strength is needed, particularly against the Romulans and all their nice plasma weapons.

    After level 50, though, I switched back into the TOS Connie and am trying to build it up more. Still a bunch of work to do, but I'm having fun.

    Can't speak to the NX - haven't tried it.
