As the title says, is it worth the money. It's a bit expensive at the moment, at least 3/4 months of saving. Just looking for some opinions, and some builds for it would be nice
P.S. I do own the Dreadnought Carrier.
I'm sorry to people who I, in the past, insulted, annoyed, etc.
It's a good ship. Great, even. If it were priced competitively with other lockbox ships, it would certainly be worth that much.
But now you can get a Nicor for less than 1/3 the price, or spend $25 for Steamrunner, $30 for a Fleet AE or FPE-R...
If you want it as a status symbol, or to unlock the pets, that sort of throws out the value assessment, and I certainly won't discourage you from setting a goal to get one. But as a ship, the value isn't there.
As an escort is in a good ship, one of the betters for sure. But as a hangar it is like I am playing a different ship with my JHDC. I have wing commander and they stay level 5 in most battles unlike the fighters.

For Pvp ............not really

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse
I got a bug from the Winter box when it first came out. It's nice, but it's not worth the price it goes for. Maybe when it first came out, but there are so many ships now that are comparable for a fraction of the price. (I'd gladly sell it for 400M if I could find a way to stuff it back in the box! )
Is the Bug worth the 400 million EC price tag? No. Not even to use the Bug pets on a J-Dread. Bug pets are nice and all, but not 400 million nice.
However, the Bug itself is still very very good. I would argue it's the best non-gimmick escort in the game.
It isn't a hybrid of some kind
It doesn't have any silly universal consoles
It doesn't have some kind of silly gimmick to it
It has no cloak.
What it is though, is fast, durable, and hard hitting. It's an escort with a couple of arguably not-very-universal, universal BOFF slots, namely the 2 Lt's. But it does it's job of killing, and it does it very well.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
FPER: 5 FSMs or 2500 Zen + 1 Module
34.700 HP.
1.045 shield modifier
4/3+1 weapon layout
Comm tac, LtComm uni, LtComm engi, Lt. Sci
3 / 2 / 5 console layout
Nadion bomb that's WELL worth equipping if you use phasers.
16 turn
.20 impulse mod
JHAS - 450mil EC or more unique than rare drop
34.500 HP
1 shield modifier
4/3 weapon layout
Comm tac, LtComm tac, ensign engi, double Lt Uni.
4 / 1 / 5 console layout
20 turn
.22 impulse mod
Now, is the JHAS worth that much anymore? No, and it never was. Patrol fused Lt + Ensign to LtComm, therefore your rank 1 crappy skill is potentially upgraded to rank 3. As a result it's a lot more tanky, and with AtD, EPTE, two RCS and a tachyo I get turn rate over 70. Bugs aren't a problem anymore really.
It's complicated and you'll hear answers from both "sides" .
For me it's not actually worth 400-500M .
It is also for a specific type of player -- those who enjoy speed-tanking in PVP .
I have seen it being deadly in PVP , I have experienced it being less then very endurant in PVE (where you sit still and pew-pew the Borg cube/gate for the 10.000th time) .
From my experience , the Hirogen attack ship came closest in performance -- if you slap a couple of Fleet RCS consoles on the Hirogen ship .
I've seen the Nicor come up here , but with only 2 Eng consoles , that ship has been a bit squishy for me . Still fun but squishy .
So , in short , it has a nice turn (but sometimes you can overdo the turn) , it has a less then clear front/back section (from afar you have problem to tell head from tail unless you see the weapons fire coming out from one side) .
As for build suggestions , I don't PVP with it much (so no real need for an A2B build) , so these are two of my PVE builds for it .
It may not be the best , but it's good for starters .
Also speaking for myself , I'm interested in seeing it preform with a Romulan Crit Tac .
You can do fine with any tier 5 ship...its just about taste and preference really...
i personally dont see why i should buy a ship for money or lots of EC/Dilithium when i can do all content with the free ships...
i bought myself a Mirror version of the ship i wanted and i do okay.
based on that you can byu any ship and pay any amount... from 0 - 1 billion...if you want it you buy it... worth depends on how much worth it is TO YOU ^^
Whether it's worth 400 million ecs is up to you. But if you're not gonna fly the bug then it probably seems like a waste just to get the jem pets. They're really good pets but not 400 million ecs good. The difference between best attack pets and second best attack pets is probably measured in seconds.
400m+ is extremely expensive for a pet. Especially considering the DPS gain is extremely minor (you'll be happy if there is any). The only thing you'll have over scorpion fighters (for example) is more survivability, which mean less micromanagement.
As for the ship itself, it used to be OP, but powercreep happened, and we have new toys that are as good/better.
I honestly think 400m is overpriced by a huge margin compared to what it does in the current meta. But then it's up to you, if you have billions and nothing to spend on, go for it.
As a durable, hard hitting dogfighting Escort, you will not find anything better. You may see Escorts rivaling its firepower. Maybe even durability. But no other Escort has the natural agility and speed of the JHAS. Only the Risian Corvette is faster. Only the KDF B'Rel BOP and Risian Corvette has better turn. But the Corvette and BOPs will get destroyed by the JHAS. They don't have the firepower nor survivability of the JHAS.
But for the money it goes for now, no.
You have a lot of options of Escorts that are close enough to the total package of a JHAS, but not cost you such a high amount.
And getting the JHAS for the sake of the Elite JHAS unit for the JHDC is very, very expensive. It's a great unit, but not so powerful that you need to fork 400m+ for it, as other Frigate units are comparable in their performance (albeit with other Carriers).

But it's not the 'end-all-be-all' it once was. Several ships now equal or eclipse it in capabilities based on your preferences.
I have the Bug and the only real reason that I even wanted it was to unlock the Hangars for my Jem Dread.
The Bug is still a nice ship but unless you really want to unlock the Hangars for the Dread you can get better bang for your buck elsewhere.

Same here, I have one, and I love it.
But I still love my defiant more.

There are better ships for less now, especially since the new FPE was released. I don't really use mine anymore...
