Using T1 Connie all the way through

So the last ship sale I bought the Enterprise T1 Zen version. I just like the look. I wonder if anyone has played the pve all the way through with one? I can figure it would not be easy but is it even possible?

Possible, but you will spend a lot of time waiting for the respawn timer.

I knew of a player who turned up in STF pug groups flying an Oberth, I don't remember the details but I think they managed to pull their weight. Here is the thread.

I don't think they stuck with it while levelling a toon or playing the standard content though, but if he could survive an STF then I can't see why you can't survive the normal stuff.

You'd just need to be more careful, and patient.

aye totally possible to make the story arc with a TOS Connie, i tried it and it went okay. but i had fleet consoles in it and fleet AP beam and the AP arc beam together with a breen transphasic torp. so that made it a lot easier. but its still possible to do without them. and i didnt died as often is i thought i would actually just a few times. its quite fun trying with the retrophasers next ( mission rewards on Xi not the ones with the ship)

clarifying. i was a lvl 50 toon and re-started the whole story with a connie.

It is possible. Its all a matter of equip and skills.

I am flying a NX-Class when I am bored. It runs missions like a charm. I can even do some of the dailies. The Solonae Sphere is difficult but it is doable with the kiting and hit & run technics.

Yep, its doable. The hard and time intensive part is getting the gear and skill to pull it off.


You need a minimum of 3k DPS to pull off an ESTF in reasonable time and not hamper your teammates. Assuming requisite pilot skill, T5 ships can do that with white/green Mk IX/X/XI rainbow bits, but for a T1 ship to do it you need purple Mk XII gear minimum.

Something to note - all the above are using endgame gear. The problem you will find is as you go up the levels you will be using at best blue or purple gear people found as random drops and stuck in the exchange for silly money. And that is what will make it difficult.

I took an NX all the way to VA back in the old days: pre FTP. Engineering Team, Science Team, and Tactical Team were my three Boff abilities - and I had my Grappler from the NX and a bunch of Shield Batteries.

It is really not that difficult until you get into Romulan space - the Roms have more advanced combat tactics as well as Plasma Weapons that just keep on burning.

Keldons and Galores tend to be an issue once you get into Cardassian space. Photonic Fleet can make your live miserable very quickly.

Strangely, the Borg space encounters were not that difficult.

Have to agree with all the above posters. Before they made all the missions adjust to your level, it was very easy to run the whole series in the T1 Connie. Now that the missions adjust to your level, a little more planning is required. Some ships (cardassian cruisers) can heal themselves very quickly and you can find yourself battleing one for quite some time if you can't manage the DPS. I have been through the whole series in my T1 Connie but now he just mainly uses it for transport to his Diplomatic missions. Until (if) I get him into MKII gear, I will not take him into any STF's. The problem is just the limited number of weapon loadouts. With only 3, it can be quite a challenge.

I use TT, EPtS and HE myself for T1 ships, means you have heals and can clear plasma DoT and Borg shield remover. (And other stuff)

James T Cat was leveled with and still uses a T1 connie everyday (for the challenge and the fact they wont allow the skin to be used on higher level ships). I Play fleet missions the crystal mission, even stf's using it. The USS Kittyprize has also been submitted to the academy school page where u show off your builds. Check out my foundry review videos, to get to see me successfully piloting one against some tough space battles and bosses. (warning, videos contain lolcat humor, so if you are serious and easily offended by me mocking TOS by using lolcats, it maynot be for u)

I recall seeing a video of someone in a T1 Connie playing Hive Onslaught Elite and was able to not die a single time while actively fighting along side T5 starships. So technically it is possible, but I think you need to be both extremely good and extremely lucky.

I would guess if he attempted to play The Breach Elite he would not fair as well since I have seen ships blow up with in seconds of being attacked.
