i know i will not make myself alot of friends posting this but someone has to stand up and speak.
It is about some (( many )) people in game and i have to mention that it seems to be unpinished only in STO.. while in CO people woudl get banned for this:
~ Shipnames for example "USS *****" sorry but i need to censor .. it was about sexual interaction... and there are many ships like this.. different languages but all very provoking and im pretty sure its against the terms of use.
~ behavor it seems a majority in ESD or Drozana just discusses / argues about Drugs, Religion , Political things and OR using foul language / violent / hostile style of texting.
(( im okay withsome kind of trolling , provoking and so on i do it myself... but when you do pls dont break the Terms of use of this game.))
~ witchunting , some people repost "jokes" from other people used in zone and are accusing them to be meant serious to defame those people... and /or if someone has a diferent opinion on somethign and posted it as answer to some people who have argues in zone chat then they threat them "" im using my entire fleet to get you /report banned "
Please this game needs active GMs who take care of those people...this seems out of control.. when new peopel joint he game and spawn in ESD all they see is what i mentioned above...
filing a report is almost impossible since this is taking overhand.. if you want to report them all you need to record hours and days of video material... its not even possible....
wich is why we need GMs in the most active zones ...
P.S. im no jokebreaker ... but it is just to much...

I've been asking for some sort of moderation in ESD zone for a while until I gave up on it. But it still saddens me to think of all the new players coming on to STO, that this is their first exposure to life in the United Federation of Planets.

If it is only a couple of idiots responsible, block them. If it is many idiots, just swap instances all together. Moderation won't help, if anything it would probably encourage the stupidity.
Well it's basically Barrens Chat 2.0 ... if that other game couldn't "fix it" ... I don't think STO can ... they'd have to pay people to watch All Zones all day long ...

be thankful its not as bad as swtor chat, they get into some real wars over religion, politics and just random trolling.
Me: "Greetings everyone!"
(brave heart battle) =#.#=
but there is also being dirty, swtor has it some but its very slim...sto is really bad for dirty people. Guys who make girl toons and flirt with each other, and its really wrong to have that when kids also play this game, having to be expose to and read obscene behavior of people with social and behavior disorders. Its not like they just chat to each other or in teams, they broadcast this in general chat. I had a co worker prohibit his son from playing after seeing a screenshot of some of those conversations. When i think of star trek i think of a more refined and civilized age, not pervert street/drozana!
Thanks for the invitation but that wouldnt fix the problem
for myself i found the solution to turn off zone chat... but what bugs me is that new people need to see this.. and also it somehow annoying that people are commiting this kind of rule violations without being punished.
it gives the impression that pwe/cryptic dosent care.
P.S. it seems that those "failtrolls" united ...if you ask them to stop they go all aggro on you...or they gather their friends , manipulate chatlogs/post chatlogs so that they look different / edit screenshots with photoshop to make you the villain...or they go arond and /tell all people near you trying to defame you....
what i dont get is why Starfleet people do this... if i were like that i would play a faction that fits the kind of my behavior.
QFT, I get more help, and intelligent answers when I use my KDF characters from KDF players.
Shocking, when they're supposed to be the "barbaric"players.;)

which actually mean it's usage is something close to right for once. since barbarian pretty much means "people not us we think were better then"
actually being better is more or less counter indicated by the use of the word barbarian or it's derivations
now that is enough of me trying to sound smart :P
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.
I actually turned Zone chat off because of this. Other channels like DOFFJOBS or NoP Public Service have much less trolling in them - probably because you can get kicked from the channel by a mod if you act like a jerk.
I suppose I can understand it - Cryptic probably has better things to do than hire someone to monitor Zone chat all day. But it probably still turns new players off if they don't know they can join other channels.
The only place I think really needs the attention is ESD. There is by far the worst of the trolling and other violations of rules for communicating. And if someone is a free player and is causing trouble, I think kicking them is the right idea. Gold players might get a warning first.
This is where new people all have to go. You want a good impression on them, then reign in the nasty stuff going on there.
I used to be Shakkar with thousands of posts. My very identity was stolen from me so now I am originalshakkar, the original.
Well, the population of STO is filled with kids. I see it every day. Unfortunately. So, the best thing you can do is to ignore em. Because they are too many...

All this sounds good.
I have to say, though, that until this happens I'm sticking mostly KDF. Qo'noS has a lot of good, mature players, since those who play KDF regularly tend to be harder-core Trek geeks instead of casual trolls and Internet griefers.
I'll take the nerds over the griefers any day, not least because I'm a proud nerd myself.
OP, simple solution: report spam and ignore. That's all you have to do unless of course you're a glutton for punishment and enjoy getting baited by trolls.
I have to echo what a lot of you have said here, that I keep ESD chat off most of the time because I get tired of reporting the derps contributing to the trollish spam. Q'nos chat is much better fortunately and I will go out of my way to help any new player seeking help on there. On ESD? Forget it.

The problem, imho, is that it just doesn't work. Why one might ask? Cause you ignore the person that started it...and...you end up ignoring half a dozen folks that keep replying to them...dozens of folks that reply to those folks.
Easier to run another tab while in social zones without zone chat active...meh.

Read the bottom of my post. I agree with you in that it ultimately is a futile effort.
1st city chat is great but it did go downhill a little when they let romulans in. we got a big influx of people who didn't normally play on kdf side and they acted like idiots. so ignore list works great for those few. but for the most part ask a question and you will get a proper answer maybe a debate between a few about options involved with those choices but usually its all usefull. and when one of the trolls does mouth off they get ignored so fast they just tend to wonder off to drozona.
Trophies for killing FEDS ahh those were the days.
Aye that was the most entertaining chat I ever seen. Clearly trolling. That holding me back from grinding. LOL.
The dress is gold and white. Over 70% people says so. When viewed from a certain screen angle it appears blue and black. The dress displayed on amazon is a blue and black dress, but it's not the same dress in the picture. If you're seeing blue & black you're slightly colored blind. A normal upright screen = white and gold.

We are all adults if you don't want to see what people have to say in zone chat turn it off. This touchy feely Sh*t is why the world is in the shape it is now. Be a man or woman and stand up for your self instead of crying and whinning.
Whereas voice tone is absent from text responses, let me begin by just advising that I am not a self-righteous know-it-all and I believe that all divergent opinions are valid, most of the time.
ESD chat is a mess and I usually turn off zone chat there. The only thing that causes me concern is that I have a 10 and 12 year old who also play STO and I'm sure there are also younger folks playing here too. I have warned my kids before about the "dangers" of the internet and that the world is full of pinheads for whom internet anonimity is almost like alcohol, some can't handle it and will always act like jerks. I think my kids understand this and if they didn't, I wouldn't let them play any online games. Idiotic behavior happens in real life as well as online.
Undoubtedly, any kid who is sophisticated enough to play STO or other online games is grown-up enough to understand that slobs are everywhere and are just to be ignored and maybe even at times pitied. I'm sure my kids have already heard practically all the foul language and suggestive, slovenly language and themes at school anyway.
I would hate to deprive my (Trekkie nerd) kids (as long as their grades are good) of STO or other online gaming just because of the rudeness of a few people. Jerks may actually provide a valuable (or semi-valuable at least) lesson on identifying, avoiding and dealing with "trash". There is no escaping obnoxious slobs (anywhere) who were raised by people whose parenting skills can properly be called into question.
Herman Melvile once wrote that "Nothing exists but by contrast" Sometimes I actually go to ESD, watch the chat log for a minute or two and it just makes it all the more enjoyable to go immediately then to the "captain's table" zone. I only wish I could "Invite in" friends to that zone once in awhile.
And if someone is a free player and is causing trouble, I think kicking them is the right idea. Gold players might get a warning first.
So anyone who might be thinking about subscribing gets the BanHammer to motivate them to buy their way into the "Warning Lane?"
Call me crazy, but I think this would make them more likely to leave than subscribe. You couldn't telegraph "Pay To Win All The Way" any better than this knee-jerk idea. (Whether the game is or isn't is entirely irrelevant...you put a "pay to not get instabanned" mechanism in place, the assumption that everything else is "also" Pay-To-Win will follow like ants following spilled sugar.)

And where does "advocating child sex" fall in regards to the Terms of Service?
