Your views on STO's space combat?

    if you want simulator then you better join flight sim community or ArmA franchise.
    STO is RPG. Your ship is not a vessel of individual living beings but merely an individual entity. Kinda like a dude in space

    Space combat feels good on the whole.

    The biggest problem I have with space combat is the amount of visual vomit from ships, particularly the cannon weapon fire from escorts and 4 beams on ships.

    For me space combat looked visually at its best during tier 2/3, not too many weapons going off from every ship TRIBBLE!

    Meh it's ok.... Not great but its entertaining for a couple of hours a month, I would prefer full 3D flight and instead of me vs 5 ships, it should have some 1v1 ship fights where you destroy sub systems of a ship to disable/destroy it.. But as stated it's not a simulator and it's unlikely to change from what we have now as most are happy with it.
    How I picture a lot of the forumites :P

    The spammyness of combat is what really irks me. Watching a ship vomit 8 beams at once in rapid succession makes me sad. I wish that they fired slower, and one at a time like the shows. There should be fewer torpedoes shot at once, they should do more damage, and fire slower too.

    Agreed, they might do that it would be nice to see just one beam at the time would be more trek then it is now. for defiant class it's normal to use rapid fire.

    Now that you mention it I never seen a starship doing more than 1 beam.
    Torpedo's there is a trick with that the starships did use torpedo volleys and had part from the beams separate torpedo rooms.

    So it would be nice to have that option as well and about difficulty add counted torpedo's, you get 250 torpedo's when they are all fired you're done you have to go to an starbase and get a new shipment.

    If transports are late or not on time it might even occur there is NO reload available.
    When you going out on a mission from a Starbase they hail you and say keep in mind where short on Quantum Torpedo's they will come in next week so don't use them all in once.

    Then you have to do missions without Torpedo's now that's a bit harder, or you get a overload and if no team member is able to help you your just a sitting duck.
    And maybe get the interest off the Borg to assimilate your ship and crew and fight your friends for the rest of the mission instead of the borg.

    Friends or team members can't do anything to help you until the end they have to keep you ship disabled and as a bonus mission they can rescue you and your crew for some extra marks.
