Romulans need a proper dark green ship skin

cidstormcidstorm Member Posts: 1,220 Arc User
The Reman skin for Romulan ships give a whole body dark green, but force the glowing aspects of a ship to become blue. Romulans need a full body dark green ship skin like the one we see on the canon Valdore ship. The fleet skin has a fairly dark base too but it adds glowing lines to places I would rather not have them.

Here is the dark green you see on the Valdore.
http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Valdore_type

Perhaps they could add the dark green Scimitar skin to other ships if you own the scimitar?

Disable the shield visuals, set a hull pattern like cygnus or something, and the colors to dark green

If you get a toon to T5 Romulan rep you unlock the Reman hull skin which is very dark as well

What I want to see is a "canon" D'deridex type hull texture, with proper coloration and detailing, not all this wierd extra panels type detail.

I've been having issues in the ship tailor of not being able to change the pattern colors has anyone else ran into that?

I'm personally trying to get a blue warbird myself as a personal preference of the character and it would look great on her new Mogai. Something along the lines of the Atrox.

But yes the Nemesis green is certainly needed. Some of the skins are close.

The Romulan Covariant Shield visual is probably the best option overall.

Doing the pattern work usually only gets elevated panelling and a pattern into the dark green color, most of the ship remains light green.

I just replayed some of the Romulan missions and realized A.I. Mogai have dark green paint jobs. The Valdore can have one too so I don't think it would be too hard to implement this.

As well as proper coloration on the out side, how about more than one interior for the ships. I can't believe that so many different ship have exactly the same interior regardless of size and shape.

I'm not so angry about that really. They duplicated the Valdore's bridge to perfection (wish they would apply the same love to the Sovereign class bridge) so in this case we got quality over quantity.

I'm hoping that over time they might go back and try to duplicate some of the older Romulan bridges that we saw like Taris and Toreth's bridges from Contagion and Face of the Enemy, which are the only other Romulan bridges we saw. And of course the Scimitar gets its own bridge. The Balance of Terror T'Liss Romulan bridge was a little too Fifties Submarine for me, but then again, Cryptic has no problem using unorthodox bridges, but it might be too small for the game's purposes.

Me too. I have been frustrated as well that they have not added those bridges yet.

*Bows graciously* Of course you are correct, the flagship of the fleet that fell to the Founders. That one was huge it fits Cryptic's tastes quite well.

Another one that I missed is Commander Tebok's bridge from The Neutral Zone, with the dual Consul command chairs. In fact calling it the Consul Bridge would work nicely.

    "WE are back."

I did some tinkering in the customization menu for the mogai and found that color changes aren't doing anything for the ship at all. The pattern color seems pre-set to dark green and unable to change.

On the plus side, romulan 2 looks pretty dark in space and out of the ship tailor. This might be how the A.I get the color scheme they have, but I am not sure, the A.I. has a solid one color paint job.

    HMM, I remember that one.

    Romulans_on_viewscreen.jpg

But TBH if that was a bridge it was one of the strangest I can think of. It looked more like some kind of observation and/or situation room.
    I just can't figure that one out.

There was a bug a while back that made it impossible to edit the colour on the patterns unless you hit "random" once first. After that it was "unstuck". That might do the trick here as well.
The downside is of course that the "random" button tends to...randomise your ship and mess everything up.

I'm sure the 'The Neutral Zone' 'Bridge' is the ready room, the door at the back looks on to the bridge, with the thing at the back looking like a viewscreen.

JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Actually if you think about it it's just a Romulan version of the Intrepid class' bridge, although the Romulan one came first of course.

It was an extreme close up on the two commanders without a view of the rest of the stations.

Actually I see the Romulan symbol back there.

I interpreted it as being a corridor behind them in the same way that Chang and Klaa's Birds of Prey had the neck corridor directly behind them and you could look down the hall behind the Captain's chair.

Well maybe the viewscreen shows the symbol when not in use. Watch the scene in motion, there are a number of crewmembers walking along in the background.

Looking at it there are stations behind them in the same room too.

I offer an alternative. What if they're in more of a CIC (Combat Information Center). Think about how the Odyssey class bridge is. Or the Normandy bridge in Mass Effect. At that point there was actually little reason to think that a Romulan bridge would be notably similar to a Starfleet bridge anyway.

It could be, however it just seems a bit odd to split the bridge up into sections with walls, as it's a WARbird, you'd expect that all sections of it would be tactical in nature.

One thing I like about STO is that they make the Romulans rather science oriented. It lines up with them being a curious people...something they share with their cousins. I think Romulans may do exploration for exploration's sake, even in their mighty warbirds.

Also consider that their stations may be specifically placed so that they wouldn't be visible on a view screen. Wouldn't want someone reading that shield output frequency display with a zoom in feature.

The Dark Green Valdore skin from Nemesis would be nice. I was also surprised to see last year on another viewing of Nemesis that the Red-Brown skin is canon from that same movie.

What I was hoping to see was a brighter green, as was commonly shown with the D'Deridex.
