The tour was literally a single drop in the torrent of EC that some players earn through exploiting the exchange market and systematic loot farming. Not only was shutting it down completely ineffective in slowing down inflation, it also destroyed a completely valid and very popular event.
Please explain the exploitation you are referring to. If someone goofball lists a D'Kora for 180M and the next one up is 220M and I have the EC and desire to risk investing it such said D'Kora, I don't see how that is exploitation.
Some baseline inflation might be caused by the general ec influx vs sinks discrepancies, but the most rampant cases of inflation are due to speculation. Solution: Make anything you buy off the exchange bound to account. That way, exchange prices are once again set by those generating items, and not in the hands of a bunch of greedy billionaires.
One concept you fail to grasp is many of us Billionaires spread our wealth and help motivate others to play and be active. There is a wonderful woman (Assuming as much) that gives away loads of stuff @ ESD. Not all of us are hoarders. I personally giveaway 2-5 Million EC a week to my fleet not counting the ships, traits and other goodies I giveaway as fleet promotions.
I like to open boxes and would really like a Nicor but I choose to invest what I have to I can afford to open a few boxes for myself every once and awhile and give way stuff. The lobi I collect generally gets used to buy a ship to giveaway.

I was a broke newbie once too. None of us EC billionaires ever started out with billions of EC, nor did we get -- or keep all of our money because of random blind luck.
Some people are naturally talented at finances.
Some people are not.
You check your neighbors bowl to make sure they have enough to eat. You don't check their bowl to make sure you have as much as them.
I make my EC because I watch the market for trends and get a good idea of what sells for what. Once I know I know something is saturated then I buy in bulk or if I see a several million EC difference between prices and I know that item should be selling higher I buy it.
Its easy to get burned. Its important to do your homework.

ha, I know I would get burned constantly. Money and me do not get along. We have an agreement, though, that I'm allowed just enough to get by!
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."

I remember a shady "orion like" women who came up to me and offered me services when i started playing. Seems i misunderstood the kind of services she was referring to.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
If Cryptic cared about the rise in price of some items like the Leech, etc. they could just make those account bound instead of character bound but it benefits them more for single character unlocks since you have to spend more to outfit multiple characters.

For the kdf side the c-store purchase is account wide, so all my kdf toons get the leech.
