Odyssey fleet material

I recommissioned my old Tac Oddy and noticed that it now has a fleet material available. Any idea when it was introduced into the game?

No fleet windows, just the material. Also it seems to have some issues, the docked Aquarius turns white during cut-scenes.

    The fleet material was added last summer when they did the original console bonus buff. As to the Aquarius, it's long range textures aren't linked properly - so whenever it gets outside 5.5 km - the close high def textures stop displaying, the long range low res textures never take over. It does this with the Aquarius Destroyer, the Aquarius pet, or the docked Aquarius on the Odyssey.

    Simple, easily fixed mistake. The long range textures are in the game, they just weren't linked properly when they played with the Aquarius for the new featured ep.

    If anyone ever takes the time to fix it. If it isn't brand new, the odds of it getting fixed are astoundingly low.

    I don't think that's a Fleet material, that's just the Type-5 that was added for all ships.

    That is definitely the fleet material, and not Type 5. However, it's a bug. It's not supposed to be usable on the Odyssey under any circumstances.

    Thanks. I haven't used the old whale in over a year, that is probably why I never noticed it.

    Both are available. Type 5 isn't reflective and has no blue lines like the fleet material has. And it is clearly labeled as fleet.

    Well, with as many bugs as this game has it was bound to happen that some are awesome, like the one with the dual elite disruptor pistols. :D

    I just discharged and reclaimed my sci Oddy to see if it's got the bug, and it does not.

    Do you have any other fleet ships? It could be that the material is inadvertently unlocked for the Odyssey by a different ship.

    Wow, that looks pretty cool. I really wish fleet materials could be made available for flagships and other c-store ships that are fleet level.

    All Odysseys have the graphics bug with the Aquarius, it will show up normally when docked on your ship but any one else's docked or not when viewed at a distance will be a blank white and yours too will go blank as soon as it undocks and moves far enough away. I think this bug started with season 8, not sure though.
    If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.

    Sure, this is my oldest character. I have fleet versions of the Star Cruiser, Chimera, Avenger and Excelsior.

    Edit: I commissioned my eng and sci Odyssey ships too and they have the fleet material available as well. I guess it would make sense if the fleet Star Cruiser unlocked it but I am not going to dismiss my fleet ships to test it.

    I just tested this by obtaining a fleet star cruiser. Wanted one for my lineup so it seemed worth the test. It did not work - still no fleet material available for my Sci Oddy. I even tried commissioning a new one of the TAC type and still no luck.

    So, my guess is that it's either the Avenger, Excelsior, or Chimera that are causing the unlock.

    Bummer too, I've been wanting a fleet material for the Oddy ever since the fleet ships were first introduced. Since there is no fleet version of the Oddy c-store ships (as they are already comparable to fleet level in stats) they realy ought to make it available. Hell, I'd pay for it!

    I copied the character to tribble and dismissed the fleet ships there to see if I coud figure it out who was granting the material but it didn't help. It seems that fleet materials are a permanent unlock even if you dismiss the ship that unlocked it. Even my mirror assault cruiser kept the fleet skin option after dismissing the fleet star cruiser.
    What really surprises me about this is the fact that there is a fleet material for the Odyssey at all. I remember a dev telling that they had to tailor each material individually to each ship, so someone actually bothered to make a fleet version of a 10 console ship. That is interesting.

    If it's a bug, let's make it a feature. Since the C-store Odysseys are fleet-level anyway and all. Hell, let's give the fleet skin to the Vestas, Bortasqu's, and Scimatars too.

    He is not the only one with the fleet skin on the odyessy. I also can put the fleet skin on my ops odyessy. I hope it will stay this way. :D

    What fleet ships do you have in that character?

    i have the fleet, heavy cruiser, the advance heavy cruiser, tactical escort, assault cruiser, Dreadnought Cruiser, Support Cruiser, Exploration Cruiser, Advanced Escort, Heavy Escort Carrier, Chimera Heavy Destroyer, Advanced Research Vessel, Long Range Science Vessel.

    So, if it is a fleet ship granting the fleet material it is down to the fleet chimera or the fleet excelsior.

    It isn't the Fleet Excelsior; I have one of those and my Odyssey doesn't have access to the fleet hull material.

    I guess I could buy a fleet Chimera to test it. Will try later. But I think this bug predates the fleet version of the Vet ship.

    Edit: Fleet Chimera didn't unlock any fleet skin options for my Sci Odyssey. Sorry. My guess is that one of these ships did it in the past, but they've since fixed the bug, and the fix just doesn't retroactively remove the option from people who had it.

    Either that or something else unlocked the fleet material. My other characters don't have access to that fleet skin, so it seems to be a character only thing.
