With the ship sale going on, i have been looking at buy a few ships, and have wondered how the Andorians are ? There have been alot of revamps since they came out. How do they do in pve/pvp as due to dmg/surviability, esp compared to the newer escorts ?

The charal does very well for me. Lots of pew pew and the boff abilities to stay alive. The kumari has a boff layout that is just ridiculous and the khyzon has fewer eng consoles than the others

    Edit:
I think most people find the special consoles underwhelming, so you can probably just get the charal as opposed to the 3 pack
My carrier is more powerful than your gal-dread

Either get the Kumari, or something else like the escort carrier or the new escort retrofit.

    Rationale:
For pure dmg: Kumari is the highest dmg escort in game.
For tank/balance: Ships like the escort carrier or the new escort retrofit both tanks better and has better dps than Charal.

Charal doesn't stand out enough in one single aspect (ex: Kumari's dmg), or in tanking/balanced performance to win out over the alternatives.

I'd think the 5th fore weapon outpaces the 5th tactical console in terms of damage potential, particularly when there's a large number of tempting universal consoles that you won't feel as guilty about putting in an Engineering slot as opposed to Tactical ones. The Armitage (the fleet Armitage doesn't have a 5th tactical console, either, relying on pets to make up the difference) and the Tempest can out-gun the Kumari itself, but it all depends on your setup and skill.

I use the Charal with 2 of the universal consoles so I can get the 2-piece accuracy bonus. I don't usually use the 'Wing Cannon Platforms' much, but I have the 'Tachyon Induction Relay' and the 'Phaser Dispersal Array' slotted at all times, cause I find them usefull, plus the effects they provide, especially if you have a set of Andorian blue phaser weapons are breathtaking.

The ship preforms very well, I use the charal for the ens.engineering slot and I have no real complaints so far. They're great little escorts.

wing cannons are ok until you get hit with an isometric charge.....you get hit twice in about a second as it bounces between you and one of the wing cannons, then back to your ship.

Charal is the old fleet patrol escort BOFF layout with 5/3 weapons and the option to use the wing cannons. Nothing else fills that hole as nicely and its a unique design, which is saying something nowadays. Fleet Escort Retrofit has the BOFF layout and faster turn, but its 4/3 weapons with no special, and it has fewer hit-points (if you can imagine). I do not own the Charal but I would like to have it, I would want the 3-pack though.

Armitage is alright but its more of a destroyer-escort hybrid rather than a pure escort. Its not fast enough to dominate other escorts and it doesnt have the hit-points to sponge up damage from faster escorts, more about standing back and providing fire support and using pets as extra damage or support as needed. I do own this ship.

I got the Kumari one. Its been fun to use and can handle well on regular gaming. I hadn't tried STFs or PVP to see how it does there. Just keep in mind it can't take much a beating. So you must learn to dog fight and keep moving. Other than that, you will enjoy making your targets turn into space dust.

Some hate the wing cannons. Actually I find it useful on multiple targets. Specially as an open attack.

I pretty much concur. If you want the highest forward damaging Escort in the game, period, nothing is like the Kumari. The Scimitar can, but it doesn't move like a Kumari.

The Kumari is a completely unique Escort in playstyle. She's fragile as hell and you need to be smart about speed and when and where you should be. But she dishes out alot of damage.

If you want a "safer" Escort, then don't bother with the Andorian Escorts. If you can't survive off Lt ENG stations, then you have no business on an Andorian Escort, esp. the Kumari.

Slight side step question: looking at the fleet galaxy w/consoles. How does it do when separated ? is the dmg close to escort ? ask because ive gotten that impression, and it can mount dual cannons. It also has the shuttle bay so can mount dunabe or elite swarmers.

The Fleet Galaxy-X becomes a lot more agile when separated, but still nowhere near the agility of an escort due to how the extra turn rate is added (the bonus turn rate of separation is added as a "flat" bonus after all of the "scaling" bonuses such as RCS or engine stats). Similarly, it simply lacks the tactical seating to put out the DPS of an escort while running a cannon loadout. It can become an exceptionally agile beamboat, though.
