Am I the only one not having problems with the Borg stfs?

I noticed the gateway was tearing me up in ISE so I moved further away, between 7-10km and its not killing me any more.

Sure I still get blown up once in a while but its not a big deal. Missions are still getting done along with optionals.

Try different tactics and you might be surprised. Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results is insane.

I do them every day on 3 characters. No real problems. One of my characters is newish and does get killed by the gateway sometimes. I can usually survive 2 of the big invisible hits with my science.

I do think it would be nice to see the torpedoes but at this point that seems unlikely.

It's not the gate anymore. Now it's the tac cube. And it's just an intermittent thing. Usually it goes fine but every once in a while WTFBOOM.

Which is now my new favorite piece of Internet slang, BTW.

BSST's (Borg Super Stealth Torpedo's) (TM) Are pretty much par for the course now ...

I don't think Cryptic have ever actually admitted they exist, but play the ESTF's often enough, and your almost guaranteed to be hit by one.

I know myself, that regardless of the ship I use (though, since S9, Scimi's apparently generate way more threat than every other ship on the map combined) You can get hit by one of these things ... Sometimes, you'll get hit 5 times during the map, other times, you wont get hit at all.

Sometimes it'll only drop you to low health, and you can get the hell out of dodge and recover, other times, it'll Crit. and your dead regardless ... It's just one of the things you learn to live with when doing the ESTF's.

But, one thing fer shoor ... I don't use my Scimi on the Borg maps any more, it's just to much of a PITA to get one shotted constantly, and have every enemy ship or installation target you and ignore everything else.

Yeah, I respecs my Rom in her scimitar to assign her zero threat points for space because of that. I noticed it awhile back ago, damn Tac cube would be getting hammered but would fixate on my spamming me with attacks.... damn thing would keep trying to follow me around maps like a lost puppy with HY3

I also draw more agro since season 9 launched, however that is because I am doing more DPS with the new rep passives. Before season 9, I had 8 offensive passives on one character. Now I have 4, and they increased my DPS output. This has lead to me drawing more agro than before.

elite does need to be harder.. a lot harder.. it is elite, not normal.

everyone doing elite like its normal.

i personally have taken a team and did cure space in about 2 minutes..
we all went separate ways and blew up all 3 cubes at once. it was silly.

ships are getting more powerful but the missions stay the same.

Instakill torps don't stop the superpowered min/maxers. They just irritate everyone and make it really, really really frustrating if you get a combination of a suboptimal team and frequent invisible instakills.

Whilst this seems like the answer, I know it's simply not the case. I've been in STF's with other very highly skilled and highly geared players, with them flying things like Mogh's and JHDC or JHAS, and those guys are pushing out some serious DPS and also some serious threat ... And yes, I've even tried swapping out all my Sci consoles for [- threat] ones ...

And still even if I'm not actually shooting at the Cube, If I come anywhere near it, it will instantly ignore the other guys, and starting spamming my Scimi with HY3's and Assimilation Beams. The gates do the same thing, as do most spheres, if you are in a Scimi, the Borg will hate you!

Maybe they don't want any competition for Donatra, or she's a little bit vain, and doesn't want anyone else to have a ship like hers, so she's ordered all Borg to destroy any Scimi they come across.

Personally, I think Cryptic have added a [+threat] modifier to Scimitars, in response to all the ... discussions ... on here, and in game, about how OP the Scimitar is. I think they are trying to make the Scimitar less desireable, and It's owrked on me, because, as I said, I don't use it for Borg maps any more ...

The thing I loathe about buffing and insta-kills is it's the lazy, lowest common denominator approach of "bringing it".

Me, personally, I like a challenge that tests my knowledge of the game as well as teaching me new things about it.

Cryptic's, and many MMO's, approach of buffs and OHK's, on the other hand, only ends up testing my patience. Bigger, badder versions of the same old stupid tricks doesn't make for a more challenging, rewarding experience. It just makes tiresome, repetitive enemies even more tedious and annoying, and just down right boring after a while. It's weak, lazy design.

Add to that that most of the challenge in this game seems to be coming from bugs, it makes me wonder if expecting a straight up, honest challenge is expecting too much from Cryptic.
