Cryonic Arsenal

Quite a few of us doubtless have less-than-pleasant memories of being on the wrong end of Breen cryo ordinance (grenades, mortars, and the occasional CRM 200 - which last almost certainly lurks in many inventories). Surely the major players' R&D departments have at least considered replicating this technology beyond the cryo immobilizer 'trait' from Strikeforce Nukara, no?

If so, what might this mean in terms of what players can bring to the field? Aside from the CRM 200 itself, I imagine such research would result in the following:

  • a full range of cryonic arms (pistols, rifles, a blast version of the CRM 200);
  • assault kit module: cryonic grenade;
  • fabrication kit modules: cryonic mortar, cryonic turret

As for how these would be introduced into the game, two methods present themselves:

  1. drops from Breen in ground combat;
  2. possible mission rewards added as part of a hypothetical reworking of the arc

So... good idea?

A related addition would be a [Cryo] modifier for ground weapons (in the same vein as [Acc], [CrtH], et cetera), but a proper discussion of that would segue into ideas for reworking the crafting system, which is not the intent of this thread.

    Even better, a Tholian FE series that awards these.

    Oh, wait.

    We get 2 missions per year now. Nevermind!
