The topic i need help with is Reputation and its about the logic behidn the system that i seem to not understand...
i wanted to ask this 2 years ago but i have just left after i clamed my XII gear due to teh gridn i spend it made the game boring for me... now i have returned and the question came back into my mind.
Its this, when i play this game 2 years back you NEEDed Omega/Maco XII set to be able to play Elite STFs , i think you all remember that... atleast thats what we did and got told in the STF chat channel...
Ok , the logic i dont udnerstand is we get the XII gear at Tier V ( five ) but then i ask myself for what i need the gear at all? when i already got Tier 5 and finally can claim the good gear but i dont need it anymore since.. hell i am Tier 5 already... so i dont need to do any STF of that type anymore.. especially not on elite....
the only possible logic i see behind this is to make (( the feeling )) the game longer...
Whomever told you that you need MK XII gear to do ESTFs was plain wrong. Prior to FTP and Rep ESTF were how you earned that MK XII gear - thus there was no way to have it prior to running the STF.
At this point most people get the gear for the bonuses for overall play, not for ESTFs. Some people like flying Warp 30 or having particular visuals. Plus the PvPers want the gear as they play outside of the PvE system, and need the best items to compete against others.
And at some point Cryptic will be adding new end-game Content - probably in the new Expansion Pack coming out at the end of the year. Some of that Content might be more difficult and require various Rep gear to help you complete it - but that remains to be seen.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
If we're talking space gear then no. I only have a full set of Maco space gear on one of my characters yet all of them get through space STFs without breaking a sweat.
Ground is another matter. The difference in time taken between a normal or fractal remodulator compared to the Intergral Remodulator is significant and can make or break a run (for example, when Borg are attacking the Nodes in Cure Ground).
I wouldn't say that you need it, but you'll definitely notice the difference if you roll with a regular remodulator.
Plus, y'know. Cool costumes.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
Well, it's not just the mark of your equipment that makes the difference.
Nowadays there are a number of variables to consider.
Have you optimised your ground traits?
Have you specced into ground skills wisely?
What kind of space/ground mix do you have in your base traits?
Do you have the optimal kit, frame and modules?
And, perhaps most importantly, are you as au fait with your ground powers as you are with your space powers?
I know that my biggest weakness in ground combat is my own lack of practice.
The specs are mainly setup for space combat though since i did not play to much ground in the past... my space specs are fine considering i use an escort for my scientist
Tbh the traits i only setup for defensive purposes no matter if ground or space, i just select all that gives me defense or shields or regen.
as for spec, since i will never has that much zen i cant change it anyways but i can show you:
