Question: Policy on Canon Characters in Ten Forward Fanfics?

I'm wondering if there are any restrictions to using Canon characters in fanfics here in Ten Foward? I was thinking of making a short story about the (non-canon) decommissioning ceremony of the Enterprise-E, with many notable faces from TNG and DS9.

Fan fiction is always non canon.

Fanfiction is almost always about using canon characters. Good fanfiction requires the canon characters to act like they normally do instead of doing stuff that is out of character for them like Spock acting like a whiny coward.

Just keep 'em in character, and you should be fine.

For example, I and marcusdkane are using Janeway, Jorel Quinn, and Worf in our collab fic at the moment. It's just fine, although of course people would prefer that canon characters be in character.

While it is fun to use canon characters in non-canon fanfic, on a personal level, I only like them to appear as guest characters, and they must stay true to their original portrayal, or I simply will not read it. When it comes to stuff like the OP is suggesting, which is incredibly specific, I can't see the point in it, from either the perspective of the writer or the reader. Adventures set between episodes, sure, they can be fun, because they stay true to the original Trek Writer's guidelines of not making permanent changes in the Verse, but something focussing on a permanent landmark in the verse, to me that's just a step up from slash and shipping, and I don't waste my time reading such things (no matter how technically well written they may be...)
