Chal Rexx = Shon?

Okay, so we all know our friendly neighborhood Bolian guy, the one who runs the Undine BZ.

In the briefing, he has his own distinctive manner of speech which is unmistakeable.

Once in the BZ, his lines seem to be voiced by Shon.

Did someone in the production staff confuse two different blue guys and have the wrong guy voice the lines?

They do sound similar don't they. I don't think it's supposed to be shon though.

Yes, it is the same voice actor. And they sound identical...in the battlezone voiceovers.

But if you listen to the briefing he gives when you enter the battlezone, his voice is completely different, he has a distinct, nasally accent that is nothing like Shon's...

...and then he sounds like Shon in the battlezone announcements.

Dave Rivas plays several roles throughout Star Trek Online. I've developped a knack in recognizing him.

However, he's very versatile, and generally when he plays different characters, he sounds like a different character.

Him sounding like Shon in the battlezone is probably a hiccup from the SFX guys, whom either didn't tweak him enough, or whom mixed up Shon lines without a Shon appearance because plans changed, but the voiceovers were already recorded... and they decided not to waste them.

Marc Biagi plays Chal Rexx as voiced in the battlezone, because he's the same guy that voiced Chief Engineer Tarkram and Alexander Rozhenko. I don't know who voiced Rexx in that one cinematic, but it sounded really terrible.

Sorry folks. I didn't voice any of those characters above. As a longtime fan of all of the Star Trek series, I most definitely would've remembered voicing Worf's son Alexander!

The credit is incorrect and I'll be working with Cryptic/Perfect World to resolve that. Mistakes happen. ;)

You really want voice-over oddity's, there are two Kobali who change voices, one of them even switch's gender.

The wiki is not actually maintained by PW or Cryptic. It's done by players.

But I'm sure they'd be happy to fix it.

Maybe there were some changes done after the original recording and C used an in-house guy to re-record some lines.

I remember Season 4 or so of the Simpsons, where a few scenes that were never shown on TV have been dubbed in addition for the DVD release, done by a different voice actress in german.
