Messed up Graphics

adorenkoadorenko Member Posts: 0 Arc User
Has anyone noticed missions to be messed up in the Graphics?!? I have to say something as I keep seeing more bugs since S9 launch. "A step between stars" is having issues, as far as I can tell, right when you get in your ship over the star. I see a line going across the screen and its driving me nuts. Cryptic please fix this, I will display an image below:

Edit: Fix found and explained on my last post.

Yeah, they definitely messed up the graphics with the Season 9 release. This is what the ships look like every time I'm in the Vulcan system:

Aside from that major error, I've noticed that the graphics just don't look as crisp and nice as they did previously. I hadn't played the game for a while and logged on sometime after the S9 release and I noticed, even with everything set at "Maximum," the graphics don't look like I remember them looking. I can almost overlook the generally poorer looking graphics, but that issue in the Vulcan system is a no-go for me. And, before anybody mentions it, it's not a problem on my end, because other games work like they should. Also, other systems like the Sol system (with even more ships in it) looks normal, aside from the generally poorer look to the graphics. At least the ships aren't blurry there.

The main problem I'm having is all the bump mapping and normal mapping got borked, so the textures look painted onto smooth surfaces instead of modeled.

Did you guys disable the cinematic focus? Forcing directx9? It helped me a lot with some graphic issues.

I disabled post-processing and the graphics look normal. I guess that feature either doesn't work right, or it just doesn't work right with my graphics card. (GeForce 9500GT)

Turn off Cinematic focus, that will take care of the fuzziness issue, if there is too much brightness try turning down Bloom intensity or turning off Post Processing. I have to agree they really do seem to have made a complete mess of the graphics, whatever the hell they did, it has not been an improvement. Splitting it up into 3 tabs with related controls on different pages just makes it more frustrating, yet another nonsensical change that did not need to be made.
Cryptic really needs to stop indulging the idiot(s) that think up this stuff.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.

Unfortunately none of the changes I have made have tried to make have worked. I adjusted bloom, brightness, high to low quality, resolution setting and so on. The changes I have made alter both the image above and below the line in the middle of the screen that depicts a crisp image to a blurred image, respectively, but do not clear up the blurred image below. It just makes the blurred section a slightly different blurred section. It appears to be on Cryptic's end. My video card should be sufficient to handle this mission. Before the recent S9 drop it looked just fine. If anyone else is able to enter this mission and not have any issues I would like to see some screen shots.

Please Cryptic this needs to be fixed.

Ok for anyone still having this issue I may have found a fix for you. It worked for me so it may work for you. Under the Graphics tab make sure postprocessing is turned off. I don't know if this used to be turned off for me before and was turned on after season 9 but this did the trick. Hope this helps.

You can also adjust cinematic focus and leave postprocessing on and this may also clear up your issue.

    Dear Cryptic
Removing the Advanced feature setting for the graphics is a huge mistake! The game looks horrible now! The dyson sphere area looks like a bad smog day in Beijing China. I have tried every tweak available under the laughingly poor graphics options menu and the game looks like TRIBBLE. Where theings were nice and crisp they look like a 5 year olds smeared finger painting. Bring the old way better graphics settings back.
