i completely and totally agree with this. The amount of people trolling the game is unbelievable. And it isn't just in the zone chat it is also with the party poppers and other stuff. The in game moderators need to start clamping down on it and it is more then obvious that they are either not doing their job properly or not at all.
Earlier on today i was on ESD and in zone chat a player was glorifying **** and saying that people should be grateful that they had been chosen. This was completely disgusting and was subsequently reported. But yet the moderators did not step in or anything. Same with the feminist, racist, discriminative, homophobic comments that plague zone chat.
And when it comes to the part poppers its beyond a joke. i have managed to narrow it down to the same 6 people and they stand in ESD in different instances and set them off one of the other. They have also found a bug which allows them to setthem off one after the other without any cool down. so in 5 mins about 4/5 of them will go off constantly. And since the new ESD has come out it has gotten even worse with the ESD been flooded with them in near enough ever corner. thankfully this has only happened 3 times but it is going to get worse the more the trolls come back.
And if the they do start banning trolls we will see the end of TWO fleets, SP and SFD (im sure you can figure the initials out) and their very close relationship with the DEVS.
Men I wonder what you smoke or what game you play, I never in 4 years of STO have encountered any of this, a few strange mails telling me to buy EC at a low cost but thats about it, I just block and report the spammer to PWE and never hear from it again.
Ah the balloon shooters and disco balls, well yeah you get the tools so why not using it while you wait on a timer, friend or something else.
I don't understand why you guys hate it so much, you have to see the fun of it, last time I met someone with a ICE gun he was shooting at me so I could skate instead of walk. I don't see the trouble in a bit fun, but most of you are over reacting so yeah I see they pick you as a target especially when they are bored you're the one to look for because you react most funny to it.

I do use the ignore function. I also use the report function, and I expect valid reports to be actually looked at and acted upon (or else, why is there a report button in the game in the first place?).

I've seen some really hateful stuff; one guy compared the President to a monkey, and while the President's policies on human rights and such are debatable, comparing him to a monkey is appallingly racist.
I've seen homophobic drivel, people telling female players (who admitted to being female) that they were "fake geek girls" and that they should "go home and cook something", and a guy who admitted that he liked the TRIBBLE, not because of the whole genocide thing but because they had "such great uniforms".
So yeah. Your fleet has a good policy, and switching off zone chat is a very good move in certain areas, but you are one lucky guy if you've never encountered RSH in-game.

But they still cost money, andif they had to hire in-game moderators that constantly track all chat channels, that would probably allow hiring an extra dev or artist (assuming the latter are much more costly than some moderator).
There is a report function, and an ignore function. Just use them. No, people won't get instantly removed, because the GMs are responding to individual tickets and cannot monitor all chat channels. (You'are aware how many channels the game has? Every fleet got its own build-in channel, and then there are countless of extra chat channels. Cryptic is not the NSA.) But they do react to tickets. In case of moderation action, you will not recieve further information on what is happening. But if your concern was a TOS violation, something will happen.
But the good thing about the report function is that the player in question is generally also auto-ignored. And ignoring a problematic player means he has less audience for his bull****.
The worst thing you can do to a troll is ignoring him. He gets no satisfaction from your anger, nor support for his position. He just gets silence. If he had wanted that, he could have just not written anything.
