Cosmetic Changes

I've always appreciated the fact that Cryptic is a business and as such has to generate revenue. I also appreciate the fact that Cryptic's version of a f2p game has a lot more 'free' rather than 'pay' compared to other mmo models. That's why I don't complain about lockboxes, keys, or the lobi store. It's also why I don't mind paying for things like uniforms, extra inventory space and the like.

I do, however, find the new changes to the tailor upsetting. In the past, I liked being able to show my armor or uniform at will. I would show armor in places like Defera or the Voth Battlezone, and don my uniform at space stations and aboard ship. It was fun for me and helped with immersion.

Now, with the new changes I have to visit a tailor anytime I want to do this? Why? Is it so Cryptic can make a few more bucks selling uniform slots? Or is there a practical, game-related reason for these changes? Since I'm an adult, I'm going to act like one and not pitch a fit on an internet forum, but it kinda feels like I'm getting the middle finger here - the middle finger that the powers-that-be at SWTOR could really appreciate. Anyone else feel the same way or am I out of line?

Changes to anything tend to be give-and-take. In this case, I think we got a lot more than was taken.

You can change your uniform at will in the field. Right click your character portrait and select the uniform from the dropdown menu. Unfortunately, bridge officers can only be changed at the tailor.

You do know that you have a "Change Uniform" option on any ground map, right?

I didn't know about the drop-down menu. Thanks for that bit of info. I really appreciate it. I suppose that is a mitigating factor to my little rant above. Thanks again my friend. You've restored my urge to travel the stars.

Compare STO's F2P to EA/Bioware's SWTOR F2P. We get a lot more. And it's because we get a lot more that I'm more than willing to buy something from the C-Store.

Amen. You have to pay for everything in SWTOR: color changes, crafting, XP... bah! STO is still my favorite MMO precisely because it's so generous. I also am much more willing to sink money into STO than any other game.

The only thing SWTOR has going for it is the voice acting. Well, that and the intro movies, which are much more awesome than the game itself.
