2-pc Silent Enemy set on a Bortasqu' ?

spaceeagle20spaceeagle20 Member Posts: 971 Arc User
So, I've acquired the Elachi console, the Bioneural infusion circuitry for my Bortasqu' and I came to remember of the Silent Enemy set and noticed that interesting disruptor dmg buffing bonus which come from the 2 pieces.
Now, torp out of question, I'd use the elachi wave crescent cannon if that's convenient.
My question is : is it convenient to replace an elite fleet disruptor beam array ( when I'll be able to get them ) with the elachi wave crescent cannon?
The cannon has got a 180' arc which is not 250' like a beam array but still it's not bad.
Probably an elite fleet disruptor beam array would outgun that cannon but there's the +7,6% disruptor damage.
Of course, I'm flying a beam boat Bortasqu' with all disruptor beam arrays.

Not really, since its not a flat dmg increase, but only a base. So its around 2-2,5%. So you would still be better with a beam.

That's a modifier for base weapon damage, not the final damage after everything else has been added. In the end it is worth about 1/4 of a blue Mk XI tac console

1/4 of a blut tac console? a white console? lol
I guess I am better off with an elite fleet disruptor then ...

Not to mention cannon abilities vs beam.

Actually I have run a quick calculation ...
The elachi cannon would pull out the same DPS as an elite fleet disruptor dmg x 2 CtrH with FAW at global cooldown ... given this, even a 2% disruptor buff would come handy.
Moreover, the 2-set gives a +15 starship shield system or something like that ( which wouldn't be bad )
But there's the arc's difference : 180' against 250' ... and you know the Bortasqu' turn rate ...

It's the combination of running Beams instead of Cannons, thus not only the difference in arcs but also the difference with weapon abilities.

Regarding the +15.2 Starship Shield Systems, you're looking at about +4.6% base shield cap from that...so somewhere between 200-350 or so additional shield cap (before taking into account shield damage reduction and effective shield cap).

One can get some pretty nasty crits with that Elachi cannon, though given the very slight differences between having it equipped or another beam array, well, it's a matter of personal taste at this point.

Personally, if you're going to equip the console anyway, I say just just slap the cannon on as well. Can't go wrong with both a Disruptor damage increase and a slight shield cap increase.
