Howdy greet peeps,

A fleet member discovered how to get to the shuttlebay.

I don't see the point of them making a great area like the shuttle bay, then not letting us down there to walk around :(

I loved walking around it on the test server, plus a lot of hard work has gone in to it so it should be shown off.

The point of not allowing access is that it's very elaborate window dressing but nothing more?

Remember those cheesy painted walls on the show that were supposed to stand in for endless corridors and barely worked from a single specific angle?

    That's the new shuttlebay.

If you get to close you see behind the curtain.

...Yes, but the shuttlebay looks good from all angles, and is basically fully explorable... Some exterior tweaks might be needed to cover up a few bits you can see out the bay door, but other than that it's fine. Pop-up guard rails when shuttles are flying by to keep people from running through them might be a good touch, but otherwise, all we need are some stairs down from the observation platform...

I think I've got some similar pictures on my home computer from before the invisible wall was erected on Tribble.

Right, why build things you can't walk into/on?

Why put the docking bay in there? Why bother with Earth? Why have stars, or a sun?

Why put San Francisco on the far side of the bay from SFA? In fact, why bother putting water out there?

Everything should just be locked into a room with 4 walls, and no way to see out. That sounds much more fun to me.

I know where you're coming from, but it is in our nature to explore.

Take it as a compliment people want to check all of your work out.

I haven't seen it yet, but my missus says it looks really good. Big ups! (New ESD I mean).

All that's fine. In fact, if it weren't for the fact that the shuttlebay is, for all intents and purposes, a legitimate and explorable game area we've already been to on Tribble, I wouldn't have a problem with that being off-limits. But it looks great from inside it, and it's a pretty big, fairly detailed part of the station...

They released it on tribble before the invisible wall was up. It was designed from the start not to be an accessible area. Would you be saying the same thing if the area was never accessible at all from the start?

If you get out there, and go far enough there are non existent walls everywhere because you're not suppose to be to see those areas.

It was not designed as an area to visit.

why for the style and realism

but when we see something like the both bay's,
a excellent work go to waste by be just for watching.

though hardly imported to game and most player will just beam down to the academy,

some of us are in no hurry and want to enter the bay and get into shuttle fly out and land in the academy bay and get a drink at small home bar, before go and put in request for new recruits

Lame topic being lame. These are just pics from *before* Tacofangs closed it off.

Besides, bragging about circumventing things the dev specifically marked as verboten, not the smartest move.

Taco, the shuttlebay is awesome. Even moreso when you actually walk there. Yeah it's not really allowed, but it shows how awesome it is by everyone wanting to actually get in there. I really hope you won't close it off, maybe putting an accolade there instead :D. Be proud of your work.

That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

Nope, there's actually a way over there. I didn't cared for it until it reached holodeck.

    ^This

As one of the people who got in there and had a look around and took lots of screenshots, for me just underlined how much work and effort Taco and the gang put into designing and building the new ESD, even parts that are not on view from the normal walk area had their animations even though they were not hooked up to anything - that is dedication to your job.

    A little screen shot

I have said this time and again in other posts but once again thanks to Taco and the crew for making this.

Yes there's still work to be done. A wall here and there, one or two force fields, slight correction of some of the shuttles positions, some shadows to add. But I think it would be a great zone for exploration, role play and foundry starting locations. It shouldn't be sealed off.

Any reason why North Korea looks wiped out on the Earth? (need to leave space dock and fly around to the back side of Earth to notice)

I got in there last night.. and it was awesome!!!! :D:D

Taco, I know you didn't want people in there, but the work you and the rest of the team did on ESD as whole is fantastic!

But, I just wanted to say this, being ex-USAF working in aircraft maintenance and generation, and spending a lot of time in hangars... you sir Taco, out did yourself!!!!

You should feel great pride in what you created, I walked all around the hangar bay, and was amazed by the level of detail you put in.

    If you didn't notice....

    WONDERFUL, GREAT AND STUPENDOUS JOB!

The devs may dislike stuff like this since it points out more bugs. However, this is some of the only true exploration in the game IMHO. I once nearly glitched myself down to the Reman area on New Romulus. I was getting closer and closer but I eventually gave up due to the length of time it was taking me. I remember being truly excited about the prospect of making it down there.

We could use more of this in the game.
