I thought a certain planet was gonna be destroyed for a moment there and the ending was really unexpected!
One question though : Did the ending mean that that was the end of that particular storyline/race? Given the power shown of one individual I can't see how any one can fight them!
I can't agree. That gorram introduction video they force us to watch is too gorram long. If I want to watch a damn movie I'll watch one I like. That stupid thing killed any interest I had to do the FE on more than one character.
I got up, went downstairs to get a soda and the damn intro video was still playing when I got back. Arrgh!
Need patience, much? /sarcastic reply
It's not that bad, and Esc still skips most cutscenes
Was named Trek17.
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.

What she did was nothing special. A high-powered wide-angle phaser blast would be similarly destructive.

This goes to show they can do decent story missions. Be careful guys we may get used to it and expect more of it. especially with three good ones in the arc. The only things to put a dampner on this for me are the graphics issues I have had since the update.
I was blown away by the truly epic scope of this featured episode. I just didn't expect it to be this good, and not only was the 'good' mark hit, but it went so far as 'epic'. i haven't felt that kind of excitement while experiencing a videogame since Mass Effect 2.
There was a twist. There was this ride until a very satisfying point I fully expected - given the mission pacing STO has lead me over the years to expect - to be the climax. But no - it kept going after that toward another even bigger climax and finally gave me an ending I hadn't expected.
We are now 2410. Whoo. It really feels like STO's storyline has moved forward.
There were two gameplay flaws in this featured episode:
- one was enemy spawns in ground combat ending up stuck inside walls. It's offputting to need to accomplish objectives when you can no longer fire had them.
- the other was the forced navigation in the last space battle. The setup for it was great, but the way the ship turnrate is frozen as it expeditely zips forward is sabotaged by the initial angle of the run being incorrect; we end up going too low and that eventually spoils the moment.
These are the only caveats I've found. Otherwise, the gameplay and my enjoyment of its was superb. The fights, especially the space ones, were rivetting and very well balanced/paced; making me feel lessons learned from the defense of New Romulus were successfully applied. Environments, both familiar, less familiar and new were excellent companions to this episode's great narrative.
Kudos to you, Devs. You've done an amazing job, and I'm very happy.
Yes I had one go into the walls, but Tuvoc killed it off so that solved it. Though it took a little longer as I couldn't help, even with melee which sometimes helps when you can't target with energy weapons.
I also like the throw back to TNG, Enterprise, past missions, and it was sad to see ESD that I've walked around in for 4 years in ruin, and Redshirts that have walked around who say hi to me and say I'm awesome, dead all over the place.
Glad the Xndi showed up.
and Loved that I TOOK COMMAND OF THE FLEET hell yeah
I actually wanted to cheer for Shon when that happened.
Shon was always stubborn and a bit of a self-righteous prick. That point showed real character growth for him, in a "Hold on a moment. We could try and justify, but it'll just bog us down and we won't move forward. Whatever. If we need to fess up, we'll fess up, and get things done."
Shon moved past those... and I respect him that much more for it. It's probably the moment I was finally sold on the Enterprise's new captain.
The new FE is hands-down my favorite part of S9. That was some seriously fantastic action that felt faithful to Star Trek while still being its own thing. Bravo, team!

The "trailer" is skippable, as is the second "cutscene" before getting into the Conference.
I loved the mission personally, though it's conclusion does open up some other questions.
Firstly, now that the war is over, why do Republic players need to choose an allegiance? Aren't we all just one big happy family now?
Secondly, we're made to believe that the Undine are pawns to the Iconian ~ could they not just be working together? I was thrilled to see an actual Iconian though (even if I did think they'd be red & black). They're going to be a b*tch to beat, but it is nice to see that they're still a high focus as far as the plot development goes.
I was (maybe ahead of myself) waiting for an Xindi Aquatic Warship to drop in on Qo'nos to help us out, but no.

Because we know that the Iconians made attacks on fluidic space and convinced the Undine that it was the Feds, Klingons and Co.

I have a feeling that Expansion 2 will solve this by tweaking the Romulan plotline.
Hmm. I hope you're right, but then I can't see it being tweaked too much save ruining what they've already accomplished. It's a shame, somewhat, that the Republic has been built into the alliance system. I don't believe it's possible to remove it now, even though it would be preferred.

But folks. You captured it for me.
That opening scene (no spoilers) .. well I sat back at one point with a ... what is this?! I had goosebumps LOL. Frigging goosebumps.
Awesome. You just poured glycerine on my doubts and set it on fire!!!
If these are what we can expect for updates. Sign me up to the happy camper list.
You know that Esc key, might want to press it.

The Federation admitting they were WRONG!
A very different type of episode, with lots of excellent cut scenes.
The graphics look amazing! The lighting on the maps is really top notch.
Well done to all involved. You really are good at what you do!

Because new Republicans still start in 2409, just like Feds and Klingons will still fight each other on low levels.

Do those missions still indicate that? The Undine missions have changed, so that might not be the case anymore?

That's the biggest surprise for me. Not the best, but the biggest.
