That seemed like a very long mission. 15 minutes from the point I was fighting on ESD (which means there was a space and a ground map before that.)
Did someone notice that that "Sitting Dog" Perpetual Design was visible in the video at the beginning? At least it looked very much like that one to me. Maybe a hint for a non-lock-box ship to come?
And our first look at the "Demons of Air And Darkness". Powerful entry, though I have to wonder if it was a good decision - it just makes everyone even more certain that this threat must be dealt with. (Also, for Cryptic- they eventually have to depower the Iconian NPCs because enemies glow-vaporizing 6 characters per 10 seconds would not be much fun.)
They still didn't explain why the Undine need the Dyson Spheres, considering the planet killer quantum singularized in orbit directly. Unless they first need a fleet of ships there to call it in?
And now we know why Egg wasn't to be seen on Tribble anymore. Never trusted the guy, just standing there, doing nothing for me.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
I'm waiting for the Undine infiltrator in the great hall to report about the iconians to the rest of the Undine.
Next FE: Say hello to the Undine/Federation/Klingon alliance
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
I give great credit to Shon in this mission, mostly for interrupting Sugihara and saying 'yes, we were wrong' and without a bunch of flowery wording either. Its really what was needed I think. His run at the end though, that was pretty cheesy. Still its good to the see that the guy isn't just one-note-brash.
Also, Xindi. Squee!
Downside, I continue to be disappointed with Koren. She's angry ALL THE TIME. She's like a surly 12-year-old. She needs some development of some kind.
Also favorite background moment, in the ending celebration, a Romulan uhlan trying to teach a Vulcan ensign how to dance, and the Vulcan sucks at it. So perfect.
Played this on Elite. This was quite possibly the greatest mission I have ever played in STO.
I am actually blown away, despite all the changes made to mechanics and so on, the reps dont appeal to me at all.
But this mission? Good lord man, THAT was a battle.
Also, best part - you guys found a way to actually integrate our personal ships into the fleet cutscenes. That was epic as hell to see my ship flying alongside the others, and during the trench climax.

Long, but absolutely worth it. The Iconian showing up at the end was made of pure epicness. And the way he/she/it vaporized six Klingons just because he/she/it could ... that was awesome. Overpowered, maybe, but considering the Iconians were at their height 200,000 years before the Federation came to exist, it's not hard to rationalize.
Just wait until we start fighting their ships. Borg Command Ships will be running for their mommies.

We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone

Agreed ... I have still to figure out what happened to the new Omega T2 which should replace the +30 Weapons training with something which should do more damage than before ( the Kinetic ... damage ? )
But this is the greatest feature episode I've played so far ... At first I thought Admiral Quinn was the Undine , as many were suspecting in the forums ... then ... what? Egg ???
Then I feared the destruction of Q'onos when that ... thing appeared, then I saw a lance hitting the Aquarius and I thought "Oh no! We've lost captain Shon! " .... suspence ... and then he appeared ... feww.
It's funny when I beamed on Q'onos , I saw on the map 2 red dots and I thought " it's not over yet " but ... although I suspected, like many here, that the Iconians were behind all of this ( even not playing all of the episodes ... I've played the last Undine one, before they removed it, which says it all ), I didn't expect them showing up at the conference.
So, yeah ... what was that?
Great story ... and it was awesome to fight in space with my Galaxy, like a TNG episode.
-The Aquarius trench run, making a shoutout to the Trench Run from Star Wars, and the final flight of the U.S.S Constellation from "Doomsday Machine"QUOTE]
My favorite thing about this entire FE? THE AQUARIUS IS FINALLY USEFUL!
Hmmm what if Shon was replaced before he was beamed back, the Undine switched him with one of them just before they got a lock on, could lead onto an interesting rescue/infiltration mission

That's what I had thought. My next guess is that an Undine had subdued the transporter officer, briefly, while morphing into Shon. It's too good to be true for Shon to make it back like that. Then again, it's not the first time a last minute escape has been used.
I also want mention a parody of when Tuvok owned Cooper, but less of a parody - Cooper becoming an Undine and then starting a chain of nightmares where more people become Undine, and in a creepy, but funny ending, Tuvok wakes up while looking to see if he's an Undine. Sounds cliche, but I think it would be funny to see. It's been done before though, but it's the first thing that came to mind during that scene where Tuvok owns Cooper.
I'm sure they can match this one... or raise the bar even higher.
Imagine Admiral Janeway with 7 of 9 warping in with the Rhode Island and someone cracks a joke about Harry Kim eventually getting to captain the ship when he makes rank...
Agreed, quite simply this was like being part of a Star Trek movie, it had all the elements of a film, the cut scenes with your own ship, the voice over throughout, the stunning visuals, and that absolutely EPIC entrance of the Iconian at the end, man it brought a tear to my eye, story, graphics, animation, everything was amazing.
The hard part will be matching this in any future FE, the bar has been set very high now Cryptic, you have excelled yourselves on this one. Thank you.
I second that thought - this FE was movie length and it took about 2 hours to complete. The whole time I played through it, the conference being interrupted had surprised me. Do you detect any movie formula from Undiscovered Country and Nemesis?
On another note, do you reckon the Devidian story arc should be expanded, or improved upon? Perhaps they are a servitor race? Or do you think they're independent?
Its the best FE in this series for sure. The revamped Borg-Undine episode chain is better I think. Lots of holes when you run the all together. I mean, Egg had to know that the attack on fluidic space was a false-flag operation--and Cooper Undine says Egg Undine became soft during his stay--so why doesn't he pass the info back? As far as that goes, Cooper Undine would have known too, since he was involved in the investigation into fluidic space. So they're attacking ESD because... why?
I do not like the war ending this way. The multiplayer part of the game still has a war on, and you just ended it in the single-player story line. Captain Calhoun and LtCmdr Icheb from K-7 are handing out assignments to go kill Klingons, and the Klingon High Council is still authorizing an assault on SB24... In-game universe has lost all cohesion now.
My pet peeve about it though was all those tiny little cutscenes in the middle of the big fights getting in the way due to not being skippable. At least I couldn't, even using the escape button.
Even worse, I found out that NPCs would stop firing while the cutscenes were playing. A real pain that one. I survived it, but others probably would not.
The cats arguing at the start of the mission was a very nice little touch though. I would have loved to have gone up to them and told them to "stop beating around the bush and get a room already!"
I loved that little touch.

Loved the Ferengi who wanted to know who owned the Dyson Sphere and if he could buy it.

For comparison. I guess a color change was in order...
