Undine ships do not belong in Starfleet to be honest or the KDF or the RR. it just makes no sense.
I understand that this game has drifted a very long way away from canon, but the last thing they need to do in terms of canon is drift farther from it.
I know the ship is modified for humanoid species, but it still is Undine origin.
WE NEED MORE CANON SHIPS, or atleast ships from the books.
Thoughts?
Not the first one. Dyson Hybrids? Hirogens? Timeships?????? Breen? Voth????? Tholian?
But hey, they can still top this. Bio warship stats with 40k hull and 1.2 shield anyone?
Room to 'improve'.
Whatever. Good thing this game doesn't require such ships, so I'm free to go for style instead.
However I doubt they will be able to keep this up for much longer. What's next? 60k hull? 6 front weapons? 6 tac consoles? A bit silly.
There are no words that exist in any language of the world, nor in Star Trek, that can describe the utter faliure that is this blog. Are kindergarten kids working on this game nowdays?
Also, does anyone else find it interesting that there's no forum discussion availible about this blog in the 'General News Network'?
+1
They could make a Dyson Lockbox for example, which included a new ship intended to battle Undine specifically created by Counter-command. First thing I'll do in PvP will be destroying that TRIBBLE and cripple the user so badly to make him regret flying it, and continue destroying again, and again, and again... till the last one has been neutralized.

The news post was written a few days ago (probably Thursday or Friday) and was set on a timer to be published at noon PDT.
Sadly, there is no system for that on the forums so it has to be done manually. I'm already e-mailing to ask what's up :P

Well, I have more to say. The Nova looks amazingly ugly in that screenshot, too many colors. And the stats are actually worse than the standard version imo. :P
Icing on the Cake with regard to stupidity.
Organic Ships, initially with a Psionic Pilot have now become just another ship. Ruined. I thought us all flying a Tholian ship was bad enough, but this really does take the biscuit. I wont be buying one, but I'd love to meet the genius (sarcasm at it's best) who decided this would be a good idea.
Couldn't we have had Talarian, Son'a or Vidiian instead?
I can see it now, give it time we'll have an Iconian Lock Box.
Even the Mirror Ships are lame. We've already had Mirror Raptors. How about a Mirror K'tinga?
Im not big on the stats, i really care more on how this makes no sense.
I look on past lock box ships realizing that they can not be removed due to how much money players spent on them. It is just not possible.
But I really hate that they are continuing to release these ships.
The one point I saw that on here that said something along the lines of 'Cryptic has to pay a lot of money to implement a book ship', is kinda true.
But I mean they could at least try to make more ships that SF has made and not just taken and modified other ships for SF use.
And Klingons. With them it makes almost no sense, The Klingons I thought hated the Undine, why would they all of a sudden let their officers use Undine ships?
This all just makes no sense, most of the previous lock box ships dont either.
They are going to be my priority target in PvP. From stats they look weird, 14 turn isn't much for such ship. Closest example is Fleet MVAE, that shares many similarities especially console layout. It maneuvers much better and can potentially zap around with Beta command, 0.01 shield mod of difference is nothing, has LtComm science as well, just 400 HP of difference on hull (again, remarkably low as difference). It's still better suited for attack runs.
Has enhanced hull regeneration (still, we gotta see how much it is) and a LtComm uni. Lobi counterpart is nearly identical. Their strength will rely on LtComm uni given to engineering but still, I can't see much use of it.
Hopefully people realizing that they're not that great won't spam them around Sol System or elsewhere. Really people, there are much better ships. I'll bring Scimitar as example, try to beat that and then we'll talk
Nothing else to see here, moving on...
Do you even realize what you're talking about? A bird of prey is still made for humanoid, there's no problem in flying it, like Kira in DS9 helping Dukat in seizing control of a BoP as well.
while i agree it's not that much better and all all we know is in the right hands even a terrible ship can be deadly. and yes i do know what i am talking about humanoid or not a alien is a alien. in all honesty people cry it's not canon it's not canon yet we have carddy shops tholians and such and not many crying over it and the undine are not the first non humandoid ship we have the ability to fly *points to the tholian ships* i rest my case as i said it does not bother me cause one I DO NOT PVP i am a true star trek fan and canon or not i am not Q_Qing over it do what i do get over it and adapt thats all we can do adapt and learn a few new tactics ^_^
I wish all the people who oppose the idea of flying the bioships won't end up buying a bunch of keys anyways, so that Cryptic would actually note a drop in sales when it comes to such and absurd idea.
One can dream...
As for the mirror ships - I was hoping for a Mirror D'deridex, only for the black skin to use on my Fleet variant. But nope...
Mirror Nova is worse than the Fleet variant. Go get yourself a Fleet one and show some support for the original faction-specific designs, not these undine abominations.
And Klingons. With them it makes almost no sense, The Klingons I thought hated the Undine, why would they all of a sudden let their officers use Undine ships?

The basic idea is that it's a game, and thus, concessions must be made. If STO were a show, obviously that'd be different.
And it's not uncommon, the gameplay aspects not matching up with the story, but that can be part of the fun
Was named Trek17.
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.
Just imagine. Where you choose a race when you start the game. And depending on what race you choose thats what ships you can choose from. So Breen get Breen ships, Romulan get Romulan ships, Tholian gets Tholian Ships. You get the point. Each race having special traits/skill/abilities that make them special. But none being to powerful or un-balanced as to funnel the playerbase into one particular race . Each having their pros and cons. Ahh to only dream.
That would be a great game.
But companies nowadays don't want to make good games. They want to make profitable games.
Not that a good game wouldn't sell well, mind you. But it's so much easier to just go for cash, and skip the 'well made'. Saves a lot of work.

I think I have only bought around 10 keys since their inception, but even those were got to sell on the exchange.
About the only think I like about these 8472 ships are the 2 LT Cmdr BOFF slots, with 1 of the 2 being a Universal Lt Cmdr slot. Of course I'd rather see something like that on a proper faction ship for sure.
As for making them work in lore, just seem like it would be to much work even compared to converting a Tholian or Elachi ship. For those two, you just have to reconfigure the enviromental controls so we can have our crews run around. For the 8472 your gutting out the entire interrior and replacing it just so our crews can go around.
Today is the first time I looked at the dev blog, became disgusted with the info so much that I switched off the game and I cannot find the will to start it up again

Not sure why we needed the Mirror Nova. Giving it a Tactical Boff slant, and then only two console slots vs 3 engy ones seems backwards. I would guess it is because the Retrofit is already 3/2/4, but still, seems like something that will see little use.
Eh. Although I have no interest in them at all, they don't really bother me any more than the alien ships we already have. Especially Tholian ships. I don't really care what other people fly anymore.
You know what? I think I changed my mind. The more I look at them, the dumber they get. Bleh.

It'll be dirt cheap (think around 100-150k ec) compared to $20 cash or 200k fleet creds, so you will likely see a lot of them out there.

I remember when the idea of a Borg lockbox was always laughed off, and when every serious request for them was met with overwhelming refusal.
But now this? Lobotomised Bioships crewed and flown by everyone? I would not at all be surprised to see everyone in re-fitted spheres in the future.
It would have made far more sense to have Dyson-esque ships with bioship enhancements - but still every bit a normal starship with decks, crews and computers.
I would have hoped to see Cryptic treat the IP a little more seriously than this. What are you going to equip on your bioship? A warp core....? You have lost a great deal of credibility in my eyes Al Rivera.
I can't wait to fly the The Mirror Universe Science Science Vessel Retrofit
The only good thing in there.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

That is all ridicolous.

'Nuff said.
Copy + Paste
Adjust a stat to be something else, repeat with all other stats until good
No longer copy+pasted
Obviously due to something on their end, the blog was posted before that second step was even started XD

Lol, yeah, I agree. I couldn't care less for anything I've seen until now. Seems like yet another tac centered lockbox like the Hirogen one.
That would be a great game.

C'mon man, that advice requires someone to have T3 Fed SB access. It's easier to suggest people get the non-Fleet version to show support.
Cryptic. Guys, you need a serious reality check.

So this season seems to really be focused on stuff I'm into. Phaser bonuses, more photon fun, and the Nicor ship.
Hmmm.
Now apparently anyone can lobotomize a Undine ships and just bolt some crew quarters in and voila! Pilotable Undine ships!
As if STO needed to make less sense...can anyone take the storyline seriously anymore I wonder?
The only good thing in there.
