dmgx2 accx2 OR dmgx3 crth

notapwefannotapwefan Member Posts: 1,138 Arc User
so which weapon deals most dps? I guess that it is dmgx2 accx2 but thought to ask first.

Another question: does extra/overflow acc convert into crth or crtd? did devs really say it outloud, or is it an educated guess from the community?

I know this may have been discussed to death but those discussions are from early 2013.

When in doubt always go with more accuracy ;)

Don't worry, there are stil people out there that think EPS consoles help with weapon energy drain...... The company is named Cryptic for a reason. ;)

1 [CrtH] modifier is approximately equal to the [CrtH] overflow from [Acc]x3 modifiers. Of course, [Acc] overflow will give a small sum of CrtD as well, but it's insignificant.

If you're building for PvP, ALWAYS go for as much [Acc] as you can stack. If you're building for PvE, your best bet is probably [CrtD] [CrtH]x2. Of course, since you're asking about Fleet weapons, I'd go with the [Dmg]x3 [CrtH], and stack it with Vulnerability Locator consoles.

ACC is only useful in PvP, especially with escort players with very high maneuverability and speed.

CritD is how hard you weapons hit when critical hit procs, bonus damage.

CritH is how often your critical hits come up.

DMG is the worst modifier in the game as far as bonus is concerned and should be avoided like a plague should be, anyone selling anything with DMGx3 as a high price should be shot for trying.

If you're a Romulan, go [CrtD]x3. When you're running 31 critical chance, oh man do these hit hard. I love seeing those 70k + BO3s and 10k + DHC CSV hits pop up. Same with torps, I have a quantum torp [CrtD]x3 with torp spread, it's brutal without a single point spec'ed into projectile weapons.

Since I do PvP a bit, I think [acc]x2 [dmg]x2 are the most balanced for all content. And while you may not get as much damage overall, I still think [acc] is the best modifier. Kind of like how both Coke and Pepsi are good, but Coke is superior simply because it can be used as a mixer in cocktails.

    Just my two ECs.

We tested acc overflow a couple months back. You gained both crit hit and crit severity as you're supposed to. Bear in mind acc overflow does NOT work for any ability which has an auto hit stage. So far only torp spread and fire at will are confirmed to NOT have acc overflow. I suspect that only auto firing works in regards to acc overflow. But again we've only confirmed TS and FAW as not working so far.

There was a podcast with accompanying spreadsheet...as well as a thread discussing that podcast.

If you don't want to dork around with the spreadsheet and run into some of the errors some folks do (being a wee bit too generous with their Accuracy Overflow (figuring the bonus on the full amount instead of the overflow))...then there's also Black Wyvern's handy calculator:

Also, in discussing weapon mods - there's another Jedi Counsel post on weapon mods...

Lol, I know: I think you'll be fighting a losing battle with that until the end of time.

OP, ultimately if the game is designed with any semblance of balance (arguable Atm) then all available weapons a tier should be equal (everything else being equal) so it really depends on the rest of your setup.

Eg, if you're running a very high crit chance already with standard severity you'll have more milage out of crit severity mods.

If you've got a very low amount of points in weapon skills, then the DMG mods all of a sudden become more useful (see what I did there?)

Basically: it depends. Or at least it should.

So are you saying that BFAW spamming beam boats don't get as much benefit from, for example Advanced DMGx2 ACCx2 as they should every time you activate BFAW? Would CrtH or CrtD produce better results?

    For PvE

    Romulan critD X3

    Fed and klingon CritHx3

ACC x3 doesnt compare in DPS in PvE because you almost never miss

a parser will prove this and some ACC weapons are dirt cheep now on the exchange
    Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
    Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

I had a BO3 on a raptor hit for 97K in ICE using 4 exploiters and CritD DBB, and FOMM misfired. :D

I had 160K crit with CrtD x 3 Tric with 0 points in projectiles in KASE on Donatra
Hey I Used to be Captain Data, well I guess I still am in game but the account link really screwed everything up

With all the changes, fed and kdf have over 20% crtH as well, so you can safely take crtD x3 for every species.

This depends on what stf you do. If it's the 20 man fleet defense those are mostly moving ships. So their defense is decent and your miss rate is to much. acc is useful as your chance to hit increases and counters their defense. It's also good to switch to the +10 acc nukara console.

Now if you're doing ISE then acc isn't helpful as you'll rarely miss and your overall hit chance will be 99.xx%. Assuming you have selected the acc trait and maxed the acc skill that is. If you want to use advanced fleet weapons i prefer the crtD mod myself. For non fleet weapons typically crtDx3 is best. For rom plasma crtDx2. So for beam boats spamming FAW acc overflow doesn't work. So it's only helpful to increase your hit chance. If hit chance isn't an issue and as acc overflow doesn't work for FAW it's kind of a wasted stat.
