A Klingon Cruiser for the Fleet

I can't remember exactly when it was, but I've had a level #50 Klingon Character for quite some time now, though he's lacking a Fleet Ship. I am within the Engineering Profession. I'm looking for a good, general build that'll take me through PvE content (I know most ships will do this anyway as of late, but you get my point). Would be nice to see something that'll hold ground in PvP, though a lot of that is up to different skill settings and duty officers.

I'm currently alternative between the B'rel Retrofit (lifetime token), Negh'Var Cruiser (admiral level token) and both the Mirror Vor'cha and Mirror Vo'Quv, the latter of which I took through into the Mirror Universe events (although I wouldn't say I did remarkably well with it). None of these ships are using Fleet Gear, they're all running on XII Purple core items (Shields, Deflector, Engines and Core) alongside XI Blue or Purple Weapons and Consoles. Suffice to say, they do the job ... for now. I don't play my Klingon Character a whole lot.

Suffice to say, I am looking at the Fleet Ships. I'll state quite clearly for the record, I despise the Mogh BattleCruiser, so don't even mention it to me. ;) ~ I did once have a Tor'Khat on an old KDF character, but truthfully never really got on with it. Acquiring it again though is a possibility. Other than that, the Fleet K't'inga looks promising. It's Engineering Heavy on Bridge Officers (though favors a minor Tac build), and has the turn rate to support dual cannons, though I am concerned by it's hull and shield strength (something that could be solved with that extra science console slot?) There's also an option of the Fleet Vo'Quv too, might have to upgrade my pets, but there could be potential there.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a KDF ship? Is it worth waiting to see what Season 9 will release (if anything)?

Thanks in advance for feedback etc.

First off, I find it necessary to point out that this belongs in the KDF shipyard, not on general discussion.

Second, hate the Mogh? It is quite frankly, the best battlecruiser KDF side. Maybe with the Tor'Khat comming in a close second.

You need to tell us more about your play-style though. Do you preffer slow lumbering ships that use beams? Or fast turning ships that use cannons? Something in between? Do you like to use pets? Sci abilities?

Noted, but quite often, as soon as a thread is posted there (from experience) it receives a handful of replies before it goes dead. That will undoubtedly happen to this one too once it's moved, so I figured I'd get a few replies here before that fateful time. :)

I'm sure the Mogh is a lovely ship to fly, I just think it looks butt ugly, and I wont fly something that I don't like the look of. It's that simple in that regard.

Well I favour Cruisers over other ships, just because they're generally tougher and can sustain a beating. FEDside I tend to use beam arrays with occasional dual beam banks (depending on ship), the benefit of Klingon ships though is that their cruisers can all use cannons. I am open to using either however.

My main FED is an Engineer, and he's skilled up to survive more so than anything. I've also recently created a FED Science, so he should be good to play the science role. I guess my aim for my Klingon is to have him as the damage dealer, all whilst not being blown up too quick. A few science abilities would aid in that, but I figure more about punishment.

If you won't fly the Mogh, get the Tor'Khat. Quite simply the 2nd best all around KDF ship behind the Mogh.

    1) Well actually on the KDF sub-forums, the threads get posts over a more gradual period of time. You can often see threads more than a week old there. Something rare on general discussion.

    2) I suppose that's fair. Personally, I think it looks cool, especially with the Honor Guard shields making it all black with the yellow nacelles.

    3) Well, if you want to get the true KDF battlecruiser experience, I recommend getting the Tor'Khat with a full DHC/turret build, and using RCS consoles to boost your turn to escort levels. At that point you can turn with the escorts, do similar dps, and out-tank them. I'll go the STOacademy and make this build and post it, so you can get a better idea of what it looks like.

ship i want from the fleet is a fleet K't'inga but it isnt not a very attractive ship stats wise as far as a cruiser is concerned. shame though, it's an iconic ship.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

This is a link to what I would recommend for the Tor'khat. Everything on there is Mk XI common (in case your poor on this toon), except the deflector, engine, and shield, which you can upgrade or change at your own discretion. I recommend getting blue (rare) Mk XI stuff and then when you can upgrading to fleet stuff. I also recommend going disruptors and eventually getting the elite fleet disruptors. They truly are second to none.

As you re a lifetime sub you should try the vet ship (fleet version)

    It's a great ship.

I'm going to go against the consensus here, and recommend the fleet Kamarag.

Less tactical than the ones already suggested, but a really nice, versatile, good looking battle cruiser.

If you're looking for a FACR/FAHCR experience, the Mogh's going to be the closest to that...until we perhaps get the Fleet Assault Negh'Var - which I doubt anybody's holding their breath over anymore.
