So I've just finished a Starbase Defence mission against the Tal Shiar and bloody hell are the Scimitars broken!
A single shot from one of them brought the Starbase to 10% health, and a second knocked it out completely. That shouldn't be happening should it?
Well, Thaleron weapons... :P
The thing that really annoys me is that their cloaking is uneffected by abilities like tractor beam, gravity well or antiproton sweep that should disable cloak. That should be fixed imo, then it's fine
BTW: A little trick to get rid of the charging thaleron pulses is to use Photonic Shockwave or Tricobalt torpedos, those can cancel the charging cycle
the weapon itself only effects living organic components of a ship, like the crew, i dunno where the idea that the thalaron blast also does significant damage to the hull of a ship otherwise the chairs a romulan committee were sat in in that room would of also turned into this after effect, tables, marble floors the whole lot, yet only the the people were effected. interestingly the the romulan adventure just after your brainwashing on Hakeev's ship, you play around with partoble thalaron weapons and notice that it killed the animals and not the dirt or the walls.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
I guess I'm less concerned with the lore aspect of the weapon and more with the fact that every other siege weapon in Fleet Defence (e.g. Gorn, Orion, whatever) knocks off about 10% of the Starbase's hull, where the Romulan siege weapons take off 80%. Just seems like something is bugged.
