Scimtar Question

I've seen alot of posts about how the scimtars consols are basically useless gimicks.

While I disagree with that purly because of the over shield (it can be used in nebulas which render shields useless, it has 0% bleed thru, and its a perfect oh #%@#% button)

I am looking to replace the set.

I don't want to lose the turn rate, and still want some survivability...tho thats not specifically required, just its nice in places like crystaline entity where that overshield can thwart off a few extra shield piercing shards)

I've considered enhancing my dps slightly, and boosting the effects of my flow capaciters with fleet science consols 64points to flow... which might help the turn rate slightly but I doubt its will match the 2 piece bonus of the scimtars universal consols.

I'm also considering getting a fleet rcs consol and possibly the tekokinetic converter from the lobi store ( super turn rate might help with the cannon build a bit) +hull hp or maybe +resistances

Or maybe some space magick consols for pretty shows. I don't really know.

My flow capacitors are already high enough that I got 125 weps, 80 shields, 80 engine, 80 aux, so I get my amp bonus.

I'm just wondering if theirs anything else I can do to possibly replace them. I'm just looking for pve really, because putting together my pvp set is a whole other game plan that will require another million fleet credits.

sorry if this is just a ramble, I'm on 6 cups of coffee and havn't slept in 30 hours x.x

I am not sure which one of the other consoles you have, but I use the one that gives the secondary shield, and the one that lets me keep shields while cloaked. Together, there are no other consoles that can replace them if you know how to properly use them. The increased turn rate does also help, but mostly if you are using cannons or torps. If you have a beam only build, then it is not that big of a problem.

If you are just wanting to try something different, then I recommend that you not get the fleet RCS consoles. Instead, get the ones that give all resistance [+turn]. Two of these will give a higher defense than the fleet RCS consoles, and still slightly increase the turn rate.

I don't use the Cloaked Barrage console, because it is pointless a lot of times. I have had full points in the Starship Stealth ability, and I was still shot by a cubes and other ships, even over 7-8km. It will only benefit you while you are fighting an enemy that cannot see you, so I took points out of my Starship Stealth, and put them into skills that give better DPS, and survivability.

Well I'm just gonna save my lobi and Hope for a antiproton cannon consol ( their's already a beam universal, exotic damage universal, and several mine and torpedo universals...about time cannons got...something)

going to probably replace the shields up ability while cloaked ( besides that 15 seconds before a match or before a boss when else do I cloak? and further more when do I actually need shields? whenever I cloak its typically to get the extra bonus damage, not to escape attackers so the cloaked barrage, and shields up are pretty useless.

and collectivly all 3 if we can pump some more dps in...

Tho theirs a line between more dps and survivability... I havn't really found it. I mean in elite matches, and pretty much everything besides Crystaline entity, Valadores consol alone is enough to keep my shields maxed.

I run 5 vulnerability locators, borg universal, plasmonic leech, valadors consol, and the 2 piece scimtar set (shields up while cloaked and over shield)

If you're not cloaking in combat, of course you're not going to see the benefit of keeping your shields up while battle-cloaking. However, the ability to not die when battle-cloaking under pressure is one of the Scimitar's strengths, especially since it allows you to escape a "weak" position so you can re-engage in a "strong" one almost at your leisure.

I've posted in other scimitar threads before on a build that works using A2B, and I've also used one from another poster that did not use A2B. Both can take a lot of punishment, surprising for the limited heals, and can put out some fabulous DPS.

    Give it a try.

Probably a dumb Q but do you slot the valdore console?

the problem with the scim set consoles is where to put them.
You have 5 tac consoles, presumably.
    2 engineer and 3 sci.

In there you probably have the borg console for the damage increase.
    You have valdore and leech?

So that leaves 2 consoles. And you still have 0 turn and 0 defenses. And you might wish you could slot the nukara beam accuracy for crit or something. And you might wish you could slot the other rep console(s). And you might wish to slot the dreadnought family set.

But you gotta pick 2 or give up something.

From that perspective, and as a buyer, I cant see buying the set to get the consoles when I have no-where to PUT them.

If you already have them, they have their uses. But IMHO you would be as well served with fleet resist all/turns. And XI at that, the XII is a tiny increase for a big price tag.

I know... 4 players so far who use Scimitar properly including me (take me as selfish, but it's the truth), and you're not one of them.

Set is the whole point of that ship. You don't want to lose turn... set 2 gives you a turn rate enhancement that is MUCH better than two fleet RCS / tachyo. I have a 15 seconds ambush and 12 seconds recharge on Cloak, it is extremely speedy and fast all the times.

Want resist on Scimitar? Aforementioned players do not have any kind of resist and all use at least set 2, with Singularity Distributor Unit as a must. The only heal you can count on is Valdore console and a Hazard Emitters. everything else is purposely oriented for one thing: crippling the enemy.
No neutronium or else slotted, just situation awareness and knowledge of that ship.

here's a thing: barely no one uses the set, because they can't deal with the lack of resist. Just doom set as rubbish and then, do the heroes on how they're awesome BFAWing around or how cool they are in ESTF speedruns. Then there are those who don't have the full set and rant over it without even having tried it once.

Cannons is the way that ship is meant to fly, and the set makes it possible. It's very hard to pilot it, but it yields to incredible results. ;)

Don't listen to people who find excuses like "there's no room" etc. Keep it. Use it. It's what makes a Scimitar... a Scimitar.

The 3 Piece set is not bad for what all that it does and if you go into it looking at the Thalaron Blast has a bonus you won't be disappointed with it.

The issue for most when it comes to the 3 piece set is that there are just so many sweet universal consoles out there that makes space very tight on the Scimitar and you'll always end up giving up something that you love using.

I just rolled my 11th Character a Romulan Engineer and got Her to level 50 in a little under six hours ;)

The reason that I rolled the new romulan is because I want to run an A2B build on a Scimitar and I did not want to convert my existing Romulan Tactical Scimitar Captain or my Romulan Science Tulwar Captains over to A2B.

I'm planning on running Beams with this Build has my other 2 run Cannons.

If you are running A2B with beams on your Scimitar you really do not need the 3 piece set IMO has turning in a beam boat is never really an issue; however if your planning on using Cannons the 3 piece set will have more value to you.

If you run FAW, just give LtComm to tac and ensign to engineering with DEM1/RSP.
In case you run double AtB, do not, and I repeat, do not use Leech. You won't be able to cloak during AtB uptime; when Leech wears off it will bring auxiliary offline.
