KCB viability in beam build

On an Intrepid beam array build, how viable is a KCB? I'm using the Nukara mines and a Quantum launcher fore (for the ablative armor situations). I just wonder if there's a way I can get a little more damage out of the ship...but I'm not sure if I should put another beam array in or swap the quantum for the KCB. Which would be the better choice?

The KCB is largely about drain control on ships with 6+ beam arrays via the Omega Weapon Amplifier 2-piece bonus. The weapon on its own is fairly meh, and since you're only running 4 energy weapons anyways a switch probably wouldn't help much if at all.

That begs the question: Why are you only running 4 energy weapons (including the kcb) for a beam array boat? Throwing in random mine + torp is infinitely more harmful for a beam array boat than fitting kcb, which you seem to think is harmful, but is actually beneficial.

If that was directed to me, I meant that if he only has 4 beam arrays to begin with, then swaps one of them for a KCB, that means setting up for drain control on a ship with only 3 arrays left. Giving up an array for drain control on a ship that doesn't need drain control seems counterproductive to me. (Personally with an Ablative Intrepid I'd just make a torp/drain boat out of the thing, but that isn't what he asked.)

What I meant was his problem is not whether KCB is useful for 3 arrays, but that there are 3 arrays left, when there should have been at least 5. Once he has only 3 arrays left, the fit is beyond hope, with or without KCB.

Have to agree with Noblet, the KCB is great for a beam build, the torpedo and the mine not so much..

It's good for any energy weapon build, and good if you need to shoot down AAs in PvP.

My weapon power never drops below 120 when I have KCB and Assimilated Mod equipped to my cannon Mobius. Without it, CRF firing cycles drop power into the upper 60s. Fitting 2pc keeps my DPS up pretty well, for only a little drawback.

If you have nothing spec'ed into projectile weapons (which you shouldn't with a beam boat), why put a torp or a mine on a ship in the first place? They only two torps I see worth fitting is for set bonuses. Rom plasma + ZP console for additional plasma damage and Grav torp + Proton Stabilizer for extra critical chance. Plus both launchers are really good by themselves.
