I love the original post and agree with most of it... As to the flame war that ensued after that... Well I think that 2 things really point out the futility of trying to rail against Cryptic/PWE.
First we have to keep a red vs blue mindset so romulans cant be a faction.... why do we have to keep it? For the PvP most players don't bother with in STO, the same PvP that is becoming factionless anyways.
Second... we have a developer that wanted a T-Rex shooting lasers... Not only did he get it, but he convinced the rest of the developers it'd be a good idea.... what else needs to be said about the dev staff we're saddled with?

The reason was not PvP. The reason never was PvP.
The reason is incompetence. The reason is unwillingness to further develop the faction. The reason, as always with Cryptic, is taking the easiest way out while snatching the largest net profit possible. That's why they gave Roms. OP ships and Boffs and yet after a year since LoR my Romulan is still being refered to as "Starfleet".

Except the word is not incomptence, but inexperience. There is a subtle difference
And they probably are willing, but they don't exactly have time/manpower/wriggle room to do everything they want (or how they want). It's not the greatest thing, but it's not bad either, all imo of course
*not wishing to further derail the thread, so let's leave it at agree-to-disagree*

You shouldn't pretend you know what I want to say, when in fact you couldn't possibly have any idea about it.
The word is incompetence. That's what I meant, that's what I wanted to say and that's what I said. It's not inexperience. Cryptic is not inexperienced in the MMO genre. They knew exactly what they were doing and they know exactly why they did it the way they did it.

Thank you... There's no excuse for some of the things that Cryptic does, so stop trying to make them, people. That said, they can't be expected to do every cool thing anyone's ever asked for (they are, indeed, not a huge or particularly awesome development team) but often I hear about a change and... all I can think is "seriously?" That said, I mostly like the rep changes, I kind of like the kit changes, and I definitely like some of the other tweaks and changes that are being made... The Undine/Borg mission revamp sounds particularly interesting.

They're not excuses if we geniunely believe what we're saying
I have no/never had issues with Cryptic, and I've been here since Open Beta... which should say something. So to me, they're not really excuses, just me legitly defending them, because I have no negatives bringing down my opinion.
So when I said inexperience, I did mean it guys. The particular wording was my bad though; didn't meant to make it sound like that

And I don't "think he pops up every time you login," he does, in fact, pop up every single time I log in, on every single character - except my Klingon. And judging by others who have commented on him popping up for THEM, it's not just me or my game (especially since we are playing the same game).
Sounds like you may have broken something. I have over 70 toons...never seen this behavior on any of them. Did you somehow bug every single character? This is definitely unusual.

To me it happens on every char that played 'A step between the stars' mission. After that, on those chars, Kaol pops up about 30 secs after every login, sometimes overwriting and closing other tabs I have oppened like mail, doffing, etc.
Its not just Kaol thats guilty of this Shpoks, I get spammed by the low level KDF quest givers to the point of turning the notifications off. I am not likely to run the missions either being as I am max level.
And what you meant was incorrect. STO is Cryptic's second MMO as Cryptic (the first was Champions Online), and a lot of its staff worked on City of Heroes for years.
It's not inexperience. I'm not saying what it is, but inexperience doesn't enter into it.
