C-Store or Lobi Store?

This may be a rather pointless question as I assume it all boils down to personal preference perhaps; however, is there a major difference in ship abilities or strengths between the C-Store and Lobi Store ships? Before going on, please bear in mind, I'm a SCI captain and I have flown SCI based builds my entire time. I have tried to fly other vessels, such as the Defiant-R, but they just don't appeal to my play-style. So, when offering a suggestion, if you wish, please keep in mind I want a strong SCI ship builder.

I've been sitting on about 2k Lobi since the release of Season 8 waiting for that "one ship" that I want to get that's stronger than the others in some aspect, but I have yet to see it happen. Likewise, I've hoarded ZEN almost monthly up to around 10k waiting for a C-Store ship or bundle that would be worth the cost.

The last ship I bought from each respective store was the Vesta Bundle and the Tholian Recluse. I enjoy playing my Vesta, in any form really, but I just don't feel like it's the best ship for my play and I've been looking for that one ship that would be the right fit.

I've noticed the Lobi Store seems to be more focused on the particular species involved in the latest update whereas the C-Store seems to just be where the "new creations" pop out. So, my question basically boils down to which store would be most likely to have the better ship?

As always, thank you for your time.

For instance, this is what I've been looking at doing for a while now, but I'm just always concerned once I spend the Lobi, which isn't the easiest thing to get nor the cheapest, a newer, better ship will come out.

Am I just being paranoid and overly cautious about spending my Lobi? And would this build be better than my current build?

I would say wait and see what comes out in season 9 in a few days. New seasons usually have new lobi store items involved. Then you can make your decision.

When it comes to completely Science-based ships (meaning a Cmdr Sci BOff slot at this level), the C-Store Vesta or Dyson Ships are a good bet from the C-Store. And the console set from the 3-packs are actually useful when compared to some of the other pack consoles.

For the Lobi store, only 2 are worth mentioning. The Tholian Recluse Carrier and the Voth Palisade Science Ship. The Recluse is a beast of a ship with high Hull Points, a high Shield Mod, and a good BOff layout.

The Palisade (though I haven't played one yet) is a fairly sturdy ship with good access to Science abilities through BOff seating. And I believe it has a console that is the Ward Repair ship. Kindof a last ditch effort to save yourself.

Other than that, your ship choice should reflect your playstyle.

So, in all reality, no one ship is going to be any better than any other ship? I could run my Vesta against any other SCI ship and, with similar builds, the ships would perform practically the same?

It's just annoying, I suppose, that there are so many different ships, at least for my Fed captains, but no one ship, "class" being equal, is any better than another.

Most C-Store ships come with a special item, usually a unique universal console, that's usually just a gimmick that most players quickly toss aside. Lobi ships on the other hand tend to come with unique items that are actually useful.

If they made a single ship better....it would merely cater to the buy to win model....and TRIBBLE off a ton of players.

You skipped the lockbox ships and the fleet store.

    ;)

I did, good point. I was going for the two easier purchases I suppose. And, to the above poster, I get the whole buy to win reasoning, I just wish there was something about each which made it better at a particular build than others, perhaps.

Maybe I'm just a little more than annoyed with the fact that all the consoles that come with the ships in there aren't terribly viable in-game.

Vesta Class consoles are pretty handy. My toons fly the tac one and can be quite useful.

My main toon is beyond built out so he uses other ones.
