I am sick of these "sector blocks" they interrupt the slipstream. It stops u at the border, if not the slip would last a little longer. Which makes the Slip pretty useless. It's not like your going through a wormhole or something like that. I don't even know where the neutral zone is, the galaxy map doesn't really show that the same way it would on the show.
When did they revamp ESD? I've been playing on and off for years and I don't see anything different.
It's on tribble, and will be released with series 9 soon.
Also art devs have zero to do with sector blocks.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Yeah, well a long time ago Cryptic promised to get rid of "sector blocks", and make sector space into one big map. Instead, they decided to revamp ESD.
You're partially right. Stahl said they wanted to do it, but they didn't have the tech for it (servers couldn't handle that much load). He said they would do it IF they ever found a way to do it.

They revamped the exterior for the First year anniversary, and spruced up the interior at the same time. They're currently in the process of completely replacing the interior for Season 9.

Did Cryptic give an exact time as to when they would get around to "getting rid of sector blocks"? If they did give an exact time, then yes, they'd have broken their promise, if they didn't give an exact time, then no, they didn't break the promise. So, your assumption that they didn't fulfill the promise on your time table doesn't mean anything, really.

They never made a promise at all. They said it was "under investigation" for a long time, and eventually admitted that they couldn't make it work. That's the end of the discussion for now.
As for the OP, I was pleasantly surprised on Tribble recently to see that my slipstream sustained across map transfers. So assuming it wasn't a bug, we should see this functionality return soon.
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
Art Devs get their instructions from the Executive team. The Executives are the ones responsible for the overall production of the game. What get's fixed, and what doesn't. Imagine your house needs a new roof, because it's leaking, badly. You have enough money to do this, but you also never liked the color of your house and want to paint it some other color, which would cost the same amount of money as a new roof. Which is the smarter choice?
I honestly don't care how the staffing allocation works at Cryptic, but I do know that when you run a business, you have to be able to either reassign people to get the jobs that you need done, or you cut people, in order to make room to hire the talent you need at the moment. It's that simple. I'm positive that something more productive could be found for the art devs to do, other than revamping stuff that isn't a priority right now.
Seriously, if you want to come rushing to Cryptic's defense whenever these subjects are brought up, you really need to find some new excuses for them, because these oldie moldies are really getting played out, at this point.
Meah, don't like it bring it up with them.
Point is at this moment there are lots of art devs on the payroll not utilising them is a waste of money.

It was nice when the slipstream continued IF the game pointed you in the right direction when you entered a sector block. It seems like sometimes the game points you at a 90 degree angle to how you entered the block, so the slipstream will carry you the wroooooong way until you close it out anyhow. Kind of irritating.
Was on my vesta on tribble server a few days ago and made it completely through 3 sectors on one slipstream drive... Only possible because of the vesta's 4x turn rate while in slipstream but seems to work reliably from sector to sector on tribble now. Hoping that will translate to holodeck when Season 9 starts as well.

A better analogy would be removing all the interior walls from the house so you can run wherever you want.
Except that the part of the crew with the know-how to do that without making your house fall on top of you is currently busy building new additions to the house. Meanwhile, you let the interior decorators (who are already being paid for their time) spruce up your kitchen while they wait for the addition to be ready for them to decorate.
Before legacy of romulus it used to continue when you crossed the sector border. I wish they would bring that back.
I remember that. I don't know why it was removed. They could also restart the cooldown when crossing over or something.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

Yeah.
Just another example of "how can we keep players online longer, without doing anything at all InGame".

Obviously not! It is like i said on page 1, it is all about keeping people online and busy with anything.
