I'm just saying, I've been noticing lately that low level garbage is all Bound to Account, but once you get into the Higher tiers, and the useful stuff, it's bound to character. Also I've run into a few Bound to Account items that I cannot mail to myself, which sucks because my account bank is small, and I haven't put the zen into expanding it yet because it costs to much.
Consoles from the lockboxes (cross faction consoles).
Why are they BtC? Shouldn't they be BtA but only useable on the intended faction?

So basically you're just posting to let us know that you know why things are bound as they are- to make you grind "the Higher tiers, and the useful stuff" on multiple characters thus keeping Cryptic's login counts where they want them.
Then you point out a similar grasp of why even some Account-bound items can't be mailed- to sell the shared account bank.
Since you understand why it's done, then you also obviously understand why it'll most likely stay this way.
Don't know many MMO's that Bind things to account much....STO is one of the few games that Bind a lot of stuff to Accounts, as well as characters., where other games binds almost everything to character, so you have to buy it again and again.

You raise a good point. Why are they bound to character?
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.
And therein is my point. I'm not saying they need to make everything bound to account, but there are items that I'm sure many agree, that are BtC when they shouldn't be.

If every single player agrees, and Cryptic/PWE disagrees, whose votes carry the day?
Or more to the point...whose single vote outweighs all the others?

You have to realize that Cryptic wants you to buy each item as well as lobi consoles etc. again because they somehow need to make money out of it.

This is actually false. All it does is remove the disincentive to create new alts. New alts will be created until new grind became necessary. It's self regulating.
The way it is now, ppl won't create new alts, old chars gets everything, grind stops. BtA will ease the pressure to create new items and new powercreep for additional grind, by making it viable to level more new alts and repeat some content.
Well, people still create new characters because they want to fly different ships with different classes etc.
People want to create more characters for that reason but often don't create or continue to play as many due to having to repeat the same grind they just did on a new toon. By making more things either acount bound or discounted once completed on one toon...it encourages us to make more alts and gear them up.
They have this right on reputation sponsorship and fleet module discounts for owning retrofit cstore ships. As with anything you need a balance but encouraging alt play encourages us to spend more money.
I have 8 lvl 50's, 1 48, and a couple low levels that I have designs for, just haven't put the time into leveling them all the way yet. I'm not asking that you give me BtA Rep store unlocks really, but I guess the biggest thing that comes to mind is, I have several characters who were active during the 25th anniversary TNG event, but only 1 that I would actually use those unlocks on, and it'd be nice if my account got flagged for the event so that if I wanted to make a new character, I could use those uniform options. That's 1 example.

there would also be no economy
Imagine buying the 3 packs for each characters.

I thought WoW's forums had angry elitist snobs, but I never could have imagined the level STO forums has.
