Now I have notived that the saucer sep on the galaxy is beefed up. i have seen the saucer take monster hits and shake them off. Hoverver this morning i dusted off my tac oddy for fun and went into an ISE. The aquarius destroyer survived the whole match. I watched it weave in and out of spheres and cubes and even took the gates agro for a second. I was very surprised to find it tagging alog behind me with full shields after it was over. Is it me or did they make alot of improvments.

I also use my oddy's aquarius often but I haven't noticed a difference really. It has always done actually decently in a firefight and can even take a few big hits. The problem I have and continue to have with the idiocy in it's AI is how often it will get the last few hits in for the final destruction of whatever it targets and then.. instead of moving away or attempting to actually follow me, it sits there for a few seconds right next to the explosion. I swear it has died more times than I can count from sitting next to explosions than anything that has actually attacked it.

All the pet ai's do that. Too many Hollywood movies that's the issue. They all want to look cool flying through the explosion.

Cryptic should just let pets shrug off 90% of warp core breech damage. Personally, I think it's much more ideal to rewrite the AI from scratch to not be so stupid. But we need to be realistic and that isn't happening.

All attack pets should move away from ships about to explode. It is stupid how they try to move close to the about to explode ship. :P

Well, if they are lazy they could add that attack pets are immune to warp core explosions (reducing damage by 90% would still mean they get blown up, they are after all very squishy).

Pets (ship saucers/sections/boats) should fall into the category of Friendly NPCs, like the Enterprise-F with a 600,000+ hull and be more survivable because they know that the AI cannot anticipate what is going on around it, much less actually think.

Otherwise they need to give the player full control of all the pieces, at the very least, like runabouts on carriers.

Carrier pets die even more easily than separated pets, and take up to ten seconds to notice you gave them a command. If "insubordinate mayflies" is an upgrade, remind me never to purchase a ship with a deployable pet on a longer cooldown.
Arc is garbage. End of discussion.

10 seconds must mean you got the genius pets. I would be happy if my pets always reacted within 10 seconds. :P

This made me laugh. My runabouts seem to do what they want, when they want, almost regardless of commands. I just RP that its my Flight Deck Officer's fault for selecting insubordinate crew to go out on the very "safe" protect the ship from the Borg missions. :D If my Saucer did it as well, I'd have to fire my First Officer.

the galxy pet has always been pretty tough. one of its skills is engineering team is it can heal itself and if your lucky it will even heal you. of course the ai is pretty stupid so its rare for it to acully do it. iv even seen it glitch and fire off a torpedo when the saucer isnt supposed to have any.

Wow. You guys are lucky. But the pets I use, at least they have an excuse.

The Romulan Drones probably got a Cortana copy for their AI, so they have attitude, arrogance, and know they're right, so TRIBBLE what the Scimitar tells them to do, and my Obelisk pets are leftover Forerunner AIs that have gone insane, and probably don't understand what I'm telling them to begin with, so TRIBBLE the commands from the giant white brick, they're gonna do whatever they damn well please.

Or they all were programmed by Dr. Mundo from LoL and they now go wherever they please, whenever they please, however they please, for as long as they please. Period.

It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once. B)

My saucers have been living a lot longer since the most recent pet AI changes, same with my MVAM pets.

My Aquarius (when I last bothered) did seem to live a bit longer then usual, but was still essentially worthless... They really need to just let us use it at the same time as the saucer already, as it is I only ever put it on the ship if I want my saucer to be cool for a run and spit gravwell... A pet console that I only ever use to buff the other pet? Yeah... that is kinda really bad...

What saddens me, is that my Manheim Device pets did not seem to get the pet AI changes, and are as bad as ever at getting themselves, and me, killed. It sure would be nice if those pets could get the AI changes...

so long as i pay a little attention to it i can usually easily keep my fleet ven-x's saucer alive, and with 37 K + hull it's rather beefy. plus, i HAVE seen the ai in charge be rather brilliant with it.

outflanking mobs, zoooming in and ams'ing the lot of them, and assraping one on the way out with phaser lance letting me put torps and phasers on unshielded hull.

other time's it's been rather daft, getting stuck on a particle of space dirt, and doing it's impression of a 1950's sci fi film ufo spinning for forever.

that said, built for mobility with x2 rcs all res, and x2 neu +turns, i have 32 deg / sec turn.

saucer off, and even without saucer and ams slotted, i get a nice + 60% extra defence 'cruising' in combat.

so the saucer def gets a nice def boost too.
